LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Democrats should demand own reform

The stampede of leftist pundits trolling the GOP for its alleged "divisiveness" by acquitting former President Trump during the Senate's latest impeachment show trial doesn't go unchallenged. Their calls for Republicans to reform and purify themselves of Mr. Trump's pro-America agenda are disingenuous. As if they ever cared what is best for the conservative party or for America. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden move costs jobs, hits U.S. wallets

In recent years we enjoyed a much-appreciated dip in the price of gas; let's not forget who gave us that or how he did it. Joe Biden has terminated all of it with the stroke of a pen. Not only are thousands out of work but we will all be paying the price soon. If you got used to fuel costing just over $2 a gallon you need to prepare yourself for paying more -- a lot more. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Don’t let profit rule

What I really admire about some non-Western cultures is their general belief in and practice of not placing their aged family members in senior-care homes ("Cuomo denies hiding nursing-home deaths, blasts 'conspiracy theories,'" Web, Feb. 15). As a result, family caregivers don't have to worry about their loved ones being left vulnerable by cost-cutting measures taken by some care-home business-owners in order to maximize profits. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Prosecute managers who lied

After hearing former President Trump's attorney Michael van der Veen tell the world that the Democratic impeachment managers altered the evidence they used evidence against Mr. Trump, the first thought I had was, "They conspired and colluded to frame former President Trump." LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Left’s Trump hatred will backfire

I have news for the 'dog-faced pony soldiers' on the left: You continue to poke the conservative bear at your own political risk. Public interest in your maniacal obsession with former President Trump is gone. Spending any more time or taxpayer dollars on what has become a simple vendetta will bear you no political fruit, now or in the future. Published February 15, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden promises to far left coming due

While the current differences between President Biden and the radical left on removing the border wall and essentially allowing a free flow of immigrants into our nation are of immediate importance, the underlying problems will remain between the two views ("Biden 'in a real bind with the radical left' over push to tear down border wall," Web, Feb. 14). Mr. Biden was elected on the basis of his ability to defeat Trump, with little regard by the Democrats and independents for the differing views between the radical left and the more moderate positions of Mr. Biden. Now is the time for these opposing positions to be resolved. But with his key-position appointments he seems to essentially be accommodating the radical left. Published February 15, 2021

EDITORIAL: Resign, Gov. Cuomo

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has had a good run. With his tough-on-Trump attitude, hard-charging coronavirus response, and little brother Chris playing booster for him on CNN, whispers about an eventual run for the presidency were beginning to circulate. Published February 14, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Making a storm out of a ‘dusting’

I've lived in the Washington area since 1987, and the record of our local news channels' meteorologists accurately predicting snow storms is abysmal. This week was just the latest example of how wrong their forecasts are, on every station. Published February 14, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Congress doesn’t represent the people

A December 2020 Gallup revealed that over 75% of Americans have little respect for Congress. Among the reasons: Congress does not serve the interests of the American people, only the lobbyists of special-interest groups, big corporations and the very rich; and it's made up of elected officials who spend all their time fundraising for their elections. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Americans will unite against tyranny

Who says Joe Biden is not unifying the people of America? After less than a month in office, he has already: signed an executive order forcing female athletes to compete with males (just to appease less than half a percent of the population); removed barriers to taxpayer-funded abortions; appointed a secretary of Defense who is convinced White supremacy in our armed forces (not Russia or China) is our true enemy; shut down 11,000 pipeline-related jobs; and of course opened our borders to illegals who will be eligible for government aid at taxpayer expense. With policies like these, what is there not to like? Published February 14, 2021

EDITORIAL: Joe Biden should press for a real deal with Iran

Joe Biden has started out on his presidential journey by stepping in the footprints of his patron, Barack Obama. With Iran agitating to re-engage on the nuclear issue, President Biden has a chance to avoid missteps that doomed the Obama-era agreement with Iran. He should settle for nothing less than a nuclear-free Iran. Published February 11, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: A more convenient ‘truth’

Truth, defined as "a fact that can be verified," seems more flexible now han it once did. Today's "truth" is much more pliable. It allows for some adjustment if necessary to achieve a 'noble' end. Honesty is no longer a requisite requirement when assessing the character of an individual or a group. Published February 11, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Impeachment a Soviet-style show

The ongoing Senate impeachment of Donald J. Trump — now a private citizen whose constitutional rights differ not from yours or mine — is a tyrannical abuse of congressional power. The perpetrators, who possess neither the common sense nor the moral intelligence of Forrest Gump, are intentionally bastardizing the text and purpose of the Constitution's impeachment clause to crush a political foe and his legitimate movement. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Cuban wrong on anthem move

Those sitting courtside in American Airlines Stadium in Dallas can breathe in the redolence of the progressive virtues of inclusion and unity. This week, oligarch, shark and Dallas Maverick owner Mark Cuban affirmed that he canceled the playing of our national anthem before Maverick home games. The peremptoriness was all too apparent in his statement: "It was my decision to not play the anthem before games. It wasn't because the franchise lacks love for the United States, but rather because many in the organization feel that the anthem doesn't represent them." Published February 11, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: China owes world reparations

Communist China exported the COVID-19 virus to the United States and the rest of the world, and so is primarily responsible for the millions of deaths, virus-related ailments and economic hardship now in the world. Published February 10, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Make parochial schools more affordable

The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) reports that among many factors driving a 6.4% decrease in Catholic-school enrollment, the difficulty in paying tuition fees (which average over $5,000 for grades K-8 and more than $10,000 for secondary school) is forcing parents to remove their children from Catholic schools. Ironically, the average annual per-pupil cost for a public-school education is around $12,000, ranging from a low of $7,800 in Utah to a high of $24,000 in New York. Published February 10, 2021

EDITORIAL: Beholding the Biden ‘cabal’

Following the tumultuous 2020 presidential election, Americans have been reassured that politics isn't rigged. Whether it is or isn't, politics ain't what it used to be. Convention is shifting on the boundaries of fairness. Published February 10, 2021
