LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Thought control destroys the soul

As I see it, the current atmosphere of thought control, "cancel culture" and extreme political correctness places its believers in bondage. These people are being swept up on a one-way street with no off ramps, a road on which everyone must reject any free thinking and all must look the same way until the command is given to look another way. Hence the flip-flopping we have seen during the past six administrations. Published January 27, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden order hamstrings female athletes

Has the party of science has dropped a beaker? In an executive order aimed at "preventing and combating discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation," President Biden has called on schools across the country to allow transgender athletes to participate in the sport of their gender identity. Simply explained, this means that boys who say they're girls can now play girls' high-school sports. Published January 26, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Fundamental ruination, more like

In 2020 the Democrats had an effective political plan to win back the White House. They already had on their side the corrupt media and Big Tech's overwhelming hatred of Donald Trump, but they also had a full toolkit for achieving their goal of regaining power. Published January 26, 2021

EDITORIAL: How Democrats dumped Trump

The Biden presidency has begun, but try as they might, historians may have a hard time turning the page on the Trump era. Published January 25, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden’s America is a mess

Here we are only one week in and Joe Biden has already weakened America. Maybe that's what his voters want. In his first seven days he killed over 70,000 jobs, admitted to having no plan to fight COVID-19, ended U.S. energy independence (get ready to see gas prices go through the roof), stopped the Syria drawdown (we are likely to see another war now start), left National Guardsmen freezing in a parking garage and told an unvetted caravan of illegals to wait before welcoming them across the border. This is Joe Biden's America, and it just started. Published January 25, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: U.S. must be run like a business

After thousands of years of human existence, worldly thinkers are still asking, what is truth? Today they reason that if a man thinks he's a woman, he is a woman. If someone steps on a turtle or eagle egg, they are jailed, but if a woman has a baby vacuumed from her womb it's lawful and the taxpayer pays the bill. What is truth? Published January 25, 2021

EDITORIAL: America’s mental health crisis is here

With all the recent talk of "trusting the experts" it's easy to forget that the best barometer of how things are faring is almost always ourselves. After all, we don't need a federal jobs report to tell us our neighbor no longer has a small business; we don't need to read a newspaper to tell us our parents are ill-protected in their nursing homes; and we sure don't need mental health professionals to inform us that our children are psychologically breaking down. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Support U.S., not Chinese slave labor

The day after Donald Trump left office, Amazon, the company created and controlled by Jeff Bezos, offered to assist in getting the COVID-19 vaccines out. Where was when the vaccine first came out, about a month ago, while President Trump was still in office? Heaven forbid Mr. Bezos should do anything to help the American people when such an action did not fit into his leftist political agenda. Published January 24, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden can’t undo Trump’s mark

President Biden has quickly showed his hand by reversing numerous decisions implemented by former President Trump — decisions that put America first and created jobs. Biden has cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline. In so doing he has chopped 1,000 jobs and affected thousands of people, including the many families of those who have been served by this project. EDITORIAL: Joe Biden’s road more traveled

The inauguration of Joseph R. Biden Jr. as the 46th president returns the United States to the direction from whence it came. For the tens of millions who voted for him, his ascendance to the White House means the nation is getting back on track. Those who did not dread the U-turn he has vowed to make. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Reform, don’t defund

Prejudicial acts by officers are incompatible with police work, and a general consensus exists that some form of police reform is needed. I believe that all fair-minded citizens want all police officers to be held fully accountable for their actions. Adjustments of rules and standard protocols could be helpful. Defunding the police is not only counterproductive, it isn't desired by the overwhelming majority of our population. A real need exists to get into the heads of policemen and -women and into the inherent culture of police work. Published January 21, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden’s just a pawn

If we've learned anything over the past four years, it is that there is no limit to the deceit of the political left. Its members have outflanked civil society. Published January 21, 2021

Kristi Noem says she gave former president Donald Trump a $1,100 bust depicting the president on Mount Rushmore last year because she knew it was something he wanted to receive. EDITORIAL: 10 notable achievements of the Trump presidency

Thursday marks the first (full) day of the rest of former President Donald Trump's life, but don't expect him to go gentle into that political good night. That's just not his style — or temperament. Published January 21, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Trump was all that kept left together

Former President Trump is the first American president to be impeached twice. The vote the second time around was 232 for and 197 against, and four no votes. The first impeachment was a partisan "nothing burger" in my opinion. The second one is also a nothing burger because it doesn't make sense. Mr. Trump was impeached by the House without being given the chance to defend himself in the House. He can't be convicted as a private citizen. And criminalizing political speech sets a bad precedent. Published January 21, 2021

EDITORIAL: The prospects of Trumpism without Trump

By the time you read this, President-elect Joe Biden will have become President Biden, and his predecessor, likely with the Florida sun on his face, will be referred to, at least by the press, as former President Donald Trump. Published January 20, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Protest hardly a ‘deadly insurrection’

In "Federal prosecutors file first Capitol riot conspiracy charge against Oath Keeper leader" (web, Jan. 19), writer Jeff Mordock uses the phrase "deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol." Why is such hyperbole allowed? It cheapens your paper and does a disservice to your readers. From such a description, one would expect to see smoke still wafting up from the Capitol and the streets to be clogged with funeral processions. Is this lazy reporting or biased reporting? Is this The Washington Post or The Washington Times? Published January 20, 2021
