EDITORIAL: Resisting coronavirus migration
Defeating COVID-19 is all about controlling the spread of disease. As President Biden assumes command of the fight against the pandemic, he must resist relaxed immigration policies that open the nation to fresh viral infection. Published February 3, 2021
EDITORIAL: Familicide gets a boost from Biden
Life is fleeting, so the adage goes. It doesn't follow, though, that it has to be cheap. Abortion serves to devalue human life, and President Biden intends to reinforce the coldhearted practice. Published February 2, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Only legitimate voting can fix politics
Political conflicts and the outrageous commotion among our 'leaders' has watered the seeds of anger, and sadly erupted the volcano on the face of freedom and democracy. Defending democracy and challenging the election fraud are not the same as legitimizing the attacks and rioting that took place on the Capitol last month. Such acts do not represent the desires or actions of the majority of Trump supporters. Condemning and undermining Trump supporters is the Democrats' strategy to deny the constitutional rights of those citizens who voted for Trump. Published February 2, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: ‘Too generous’ or not what donors want?
I just knew that those opposing the much-needed $1.9-trillion pandemic-relief bill would cite as their reason for doing so the belief that we need to be "fiscally responsible" and not add to our national debt and federal budget deficit. It is one thing to say that we can't afford to bankrupt our nation over expensive items like the Green New Deal and Medicare for all, but it is something else entirely when we are having a national crisis and when most of our citizens (both Democrats and Republicans) are hurting financially. Even many upper-middle-class Americans are struggling to pay their bills. This is not the time to preach fiscal responsibility. Published February 2, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden off to predictably bad start
If the objectives of President Biden and his Democratic cohorts are to further divide our country, create an economic recession and enable China's world dominance, they're off to a great start. Published February 2, 2021
EDITORIAL: If Donald Trump impeachment trial goes ahead, dark days will grow darker
Despite 44 members of the U.S. Senate having agreed with Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul's objection to the upcoming trial of former President Donald J. Trump, it remains scheduled to begin on Feb. 9. Published February 1, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Kill domestic energy, kill life quality
When President Biden issued his executive order halting the Keystone XL pipeline, he essentially made life harder for the middle class-- and he jeopardized national security. Our economy and people's comfort and essential needs are based on oil, natural gas and coal, for manufacturing, farming and other industries. It is also essential for our land, sea and air protection, and it provides transport for people and products. That availability is necessary for responding effectively emergencies, including natural disasters such as fires and floods. Published February 1, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Fears about left validated
I have warned repetedly about what the Democrats would do if they took back the White House. In the past few weeks, as executive orders destroying our country have flown off President Biden's desk, my concerns have been validated. The Democrats are now showing their true colors, turning the U.S. into a dictatorship while carrying out their plot to demonize everyone who supported Donald Trump. Published February 1, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Left, right all losing now
The existential crisis facing this country is not rooted in politics; it is rooted in a complete lack of respect for fellow human beings. Immediately upon reading that, those on the left will argue they certainly are not guilty of such a thing, as they are the ones fighting for economic and systemic equality. Those on the right will argue they are the ones fighting for the unborn and the right of every person to achieve their greatest dreams unhindered by a restrictive government. Published February 1, 2021
EDITORIAL: As vaccine-craving Americans shoot up, so will the U.S. economy
Americans are tired of working like a dog -- that is, sitting at home, waiting to be fed by the master's hand. Published January 31, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Lots of ‘devotion’ — in name only
Thanks to Cal Thomas for examining the contradiction between President Biden's advertised status as a "devout Catholic" and his support for unrestricted legal abortion ("Joe Biden: A liberal wolf in a moderate sheep's clothing," Web, Jan. 27). Published January 31, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: How Catholic are you, Joe?
Since the beginning of Christianity, the Catholic church has been a huge target for anti-Catholic celebrities. Published January 31, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: It’s the agriculture, stupid
The climate changes continually, and it is most noticeable when looked at locally ("Painting the White House green," Web, Jan. 28). Turning grassland or forests into deserts has gone on for 10,000 years at an accelerated rate, which approximates the history of agriculture. Unfortunately climate change as a political issue comes down to carbon dioxide and the oil industry. There are numerous cult-like ideologies that are exploited to gain public support on one side or the other -- animal rights and veganism being two leading examples -- but it extends into urban versus rural living, individual rights versus collectivism. Published January 31, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Trump didn’t encourage violence
Your newspaper's assertions that former President Trump encouraged the Jan. 6 Capitol attack is totally wrong. I thought The Washington Times was a trustworthy publication, able to advance the conservative cause, but this slam against Mr. Trump is baseless. Published January 28, 2021
EDITORIAL: Painting the White House green
President Biden has wasted no time presenting an audacious program for solving climate change. Taming forces of nature may prove harder, and more expensive, than it looks. Published January 28, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Give D.C. statehood — with caveat
Washington, D.C. was established by annexing land contributed by Virginia and Maryland. Because it was the "seat of government," the site needed to be free of undue influence by the states. The city exists due to the largesse of the federal government, as does much of the surrounding area. The last thing the country needs is to make statehood of a small city to further entrench political debauchery. Published January 28, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Anyone regretting Biden vote yet?
In Joe Biden's first week in office, he halted construction on the Keystone XL pipeline and signed his own version of the Green New Deal. These are moves that are expected to kill over 1 million energy jobs nationwide and cost the U.S. economy $700 billion annually. Published January 28, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Impeachment try unconstitutional
Congress' charge that former President Trump's continuous assertions of the fraudulence of the 2020 election results culminated in the Jan. 6 riot is not valid. Published January 27, 2021
EDITORIAL: Biden’s Oval Office change of iconography is a bust
President Joe Biden redecorated his office in the early days of his fledgling administration. Published January 27, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Left’s hatred of Trump irrational
Democrats and the mainstream media believed the lie that former President Trump colluded with Russia — until the Mueller report proved them wrong. As it turned out, high-level FBI officials plotted to unseat Mr. Trump. Democrats now believe he caused the Jan. 6 riot and that there was no Democrat-led voter fraud in the 2020 election. They are about to be shown they were wrong there, too. Published January 27, 2021
