LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Don’t censor Dr. Seuss
Many TV stations have been airing segments about Dr. Seuss books because of accusation that a few of them are racist ("6 Dr. Seuss books won't be published for racist images," Web, March 2). Dr. Seuss, whose birth name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, grew up in segregated times and wrote books about White people, but his cats and other creatures were not racist. Published March 3, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Trump accomplishments are many
While the Biden administration is rapidly trying to erase (cancel) what Donald Trump did as president, I'd like to thank Mr. Trump for the following. Published March 2, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Big Brother knows worst
It is time to read and apply to our current lives George Orwell's 1949 smash hit, "1984." Seventy years later we are living the nightmare. We have Big Brother ruining the economy, and destruction of the welfare of a free and open society. Published March 2, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Joe won’t provideth?
Word has leaked that the Biden administration will no longer pay for reporters' daily COVID-19 tests. Each test costs $170 and the media never bothered to mention they were being paid for by the Trump administration. I guess members of them media thought that would have made them seem "bought and paid for" by the Republicans. Published March 2, 2021
EDITORIAL: Democrats try to rewrite election rules at the expense of election integrity
As witnessed at CPAC last week, the No. 1 issue grassroots conservatives care most about is restoring election integrity to ensure free and fair elections. That's why the Republican Party must unite to defeat the Democratic power-grab that is H.R. 1. Published March 2, 2021
EDITORIAL: The Donald reboots in the role of once and future president
President Biden has only needed a month or so to cancel Donald Trump's four-year campaign to "make America first." Published March 1, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: No wealth is limitless
History is replete with examples of countries that run up huge debts (via wars and welfare-state policies) and then print vast amounts of money in a misguided attempt to cover that debt. That process — monetization — inevitably results in horrendous inflation and/or national insolvency. Published March 1, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Ferlinghetti was a trailblazer
Lawrence Ferlinghetti became a household name when I was young, as famous as the poet whose work he published and defended, Allen Ginsberg ("Beat poet, publisher Lawrence Ferlinghetti dies at 101," Web, Feb. 23). Everyone among the cultural avant garde back then followed his trial and most, thrilled by the new voice of Ginsberg in "Howl," understood that while this example of Beat poetry was nothing like Percy Bysshe Shelley, neither was it simply an ersatz sample to be discarded as being below community standards. Both Ginsberg and Ferlinghetti were trailblazers within our common culture, the perceived societal ignominy of their youth transformed by their brave actions into staples of achievement. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: What about Biden’s accusers?
In addressing the sexual-harassment allegations against New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said, "President Biden has been consistent that he believes that every woman should be heard, should be treated with respect, and with dignity." Do she and Mr. Biden think we are all idiots? Published March 1, 2021
EDITORIAL: China should get no more U.S. dollars for dangerous research
It is well-known that U.S. tax dollars helped fund bat virology in China which likely unleashed the deadly coronavirus pandemic. Published February 28, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Democrats turning on each other
How interesting that now Donald Trump is gone, the Democrats are turning on each other. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the Emmy-winning hero of the COVID-19 pandemic, is now being slandered and charged with everything from sexual harrassment to outright murder. The fact that he is likely guilty on all counts should be irrelevant. Many prominent Democrats are guilty of everything from romantic relationships with Red Chinese spies to treason. From massive, blatantly obvious voter fraud to child molestation on Jeffrey Epstein's now-infamous island, the hypocrisy spewed by these self-righteous liberals is enough to make a person lose their lunch. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: CCP started and won this war
It should be obvious at this point that we just experienced World War III, and 85% of the world (especially the U.S.) has lost and apparently will continue to lose. The generals are all developing new high-tech widgets to fight the last conventional war. You could not have wrought this amount of destruction with a conventional war. In fact, you might have experienced less damage with a couple of well-placed nukes. Published February 28, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Why no impeachment for Bush 43?
I think it's great that Bruce Springsteen and former President Obama have struck up such a good friendship that they've started a podcast. I have just the topic for them to tackle in their next episode. Published February 28, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: At fires, don’t waste precious minutes
I am a retired D.C. fire captain, having served most of my career on Heavy Rescue Squads and specializing in interior rescues. It goes without saying that a quick and responsible deployment is critical when seconds are the difference between life and death. Published February 25, 2021
EDITORIAL: Censorship is the wrong solution to political bias
Personal likes and dislikes give flavor to life, but preferences spiced with disinformation result in unsavory bias. Published February 25, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Delegate no longer voice of reason
For some years, one could disagree with Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton and still respect her integrity. Now with her introducing legislation to remove the Emancipation Statue from Lincoln Park that is no longer the case. She has hooked onto the woke, Black Lives Matter cancel-culture cult. Instead of being a voice of moderation and sanity, Ms. Norton has poured gasoline on the fire. Maybe it is time for her to consider leaving the office with which she was entrusted. Published February 25, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: So much for defending U.S.
President Biden took an oath to protect and defend America. However, many of the executive orders he has signed will endanger our national security. Case in point: We are no longer energy-independent and must rely on fuel from unfriendly nations. Iran is now free to build its nuclear power, as Mr. Biden wants to appease Tehran. Tens of thousands of illegal aliens will be allowed to cross our borders. Published February 25, 2021
EDITORIAL: Equality Act fantasy
Equality is as American as blue jeans and beer kegs. With nearly 20 percent of us pretty sure we're living inside a computer simulation, fantasy is pretty popular, too. "To each his own" works for most people — but not for Democrats on Capitol Hill. They would force one and all to dwell inside their fantastical notion of equality. Published February 24, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: There’s no “new normal”
When the pandemic is over, some will say that we are headed towardsa "new normal." I doubt that it will feel new or normal. New means that something hasn't existed before, but heartache and mourning have always been with us. Normal means usual, typical or expected. Ask anyone who has lost a loved, their job or their home to COVID-19 whether life feels even slightly normal. Published February 24, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Don’t allow Biden border flooding
The reversal by the Biden administration of former President Trump's immigration policies at the southern border with Mexico is a travesty. It is counter to American values and is undermining the rule of good common sense. As illegal immigrants and amnesty seekers from Mexico and Central America flood our southern border, the White House's fabricated crisis is unfathomable. The administration's border policy is an extreme fiasco. Published February 24, 2021
