LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Slang for ‘cash’ offensive

I was appalled with the wording of the headline on the front page of Wednesday's Washington Times: "Beer and Benjamins: States try incentives for vaccine holdouts" (May 5)."Benjamins" is incredibly derogatory slang vulgarly associated with Jewish people. Published May 6, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Israel only non-apartheid state in region

Human Rights Watch's recent report matters to anti-Semitic, left-wing and radical Islamic NGOs and press, but to honest people, who are used to the incessant bleating of these "activists," it's just more blah, blah, blah ("Human Rights Watch crosses the line with latest attack on Israel," Web, May 4). LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: ‘Free stuff’ eventually runs out

The only thing that keeps the Democrats alive as a political party is their generosity with taxpayer dollars. There is no coherent platform to be found beyond "something for free." It's a shallow and dangerous plan that requires new giveaways on a regular basis. Published May 5, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Remember Vietnam-draftee fallen

As we again prepare to honor our war dead this Memorial Day, we are long past the time when we should have recognized the largest group to have died in Vietnam: the 17,617 draftees. These young men were little more than children. They did not volunteer; no one ever asked if they agreed with the war. Yet they answered the call and ultimately paid with their lives. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: New Deal nothing to emulate

President Biden's 'cult of free,' with its incontinent levels of stimulus, has been compared to the signature policy of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This is not encouraging. For all that simplistic school textbooks and political mythologists praise FDR, in actual fact his New Deal was a counterproductive failure and by 1937 the U.S. economy was back in a recession. GDP dropped by 10% and unemployment increased again to 20%. Published May 4, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Kudos to Sen. Scott

There appears to be an incredibly demeaning, patronizing and belittling arrogance among many Democratic "leaders." To paraphrase our "great" and "unifying" President Biden, if you don't fully agree with the Democrats and vote for them, "you ain't Black" ("Texas Gov. Greg Abbott calls on Democratic official to resign for labeling Sen. Tim Scott an 'oreo,'" Web, May 1). Published May 3, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Government lacks right to ban guns

The current administration is misleading the American people on a number of subjects, not the least of which is the Second Amendment. Our Founders fought long and hard for our independence from the tyrannical king of England, and feared that at some point our own new government might become tyrannical, too. Indeed, we have been headed that way for some years now, as the federal government moves in on our personal freedoms and states' rights. Published May 3, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Two Americas now being formed

As we speak, America is undergoing one of the greatest population shifts in its history. Blue states are losing millions of disgruntled people, unhappy with the current state of affairs, to red states, where they will find greater commonality with the principles, values, culture and governing doctrines. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: What’s the debt-reduction plan?

I just turned 76 and am a lifelong independent voter. I am no longer in the best of health, so before I leave this planet I want to vent my frustration on a long-discussed topic: the national debt. In his speech last week President Biden spoke glowingly of our country's status and his future plans for the nation, which include about $2 trillion of additional future spending. To me his language was tantamount to what comes out of a bovine's backside. Published May 2, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Choose truth, not fear

Our nation is in a crisis of fear. It seems every time there is an incident between law enforcement and African Americans, the word fear is somehow applied, either by the police or by the offenders. We are witnessing the word's misuse expand into every aspect of our lives. Even more shocking is how it is being applied when creating public policies. Published May 2, 2021

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden policies will hit middle class, too

If President Joe Biden's socialist economic policies were good, the illegal immigrants would be flocking into Venezuela. However, we are still operating largely under the free-market, low-taxation policies of President Donald Trump, and the illegal immigrants are flooding into the United States. In short, socialism does not work and never has. Published May 2, 2021

EDITORIAL: Joe Biden Afghanistan exit is deal-breaking art

Some problems offer an array of solutions, but none of them satisfactory. In attempting to resolve long-standing U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan, President Biden has managed, regrettably, to pick the worst possible course of action, one that is likely to result in needless American deaths. LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Spending, dependency won’t cure us

On Wednesday night, President Biden announced that America was "on the move" -- but he meant to say that Democratic socialism was on the move ("Biden speech takeaways: Government is good, and so are jobs," Web, April 28). He and his party want the American people to get dependent on the federal government for all their needs. Published April 29, 2021
