Biden finally states obvious
President Biden's sudden attempt to federalize real estate and assessments is fascinating and straight out of Orwell's "1984." Published June 3, 2021
Consider ‘validated’ votes
The efforts of the Democrats and the Republicans to count all or all legal ballots is impressive. Each side is spending tens of millions of dollars to get their way. Published June 3, 2021
Voting should be simple
You need the Rosetta Stone to translate the language of liberals. Published June 3, 2021
EDITORIAL: Americans should know the truth about Jan. 6, including what Nancy Pelosi was doing
That Congressional Republicans felt forced to block the creation of a commission to investigate the events surrounding the Jan. 6 occupation of the U.S. Capitol by protesters claiming allegiance to President Donald J. Trump is both regrettable and completely understandable. Published June 2, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: The ivermectin hush-up
In one month, from April to May 2021, new COVID-19 cases in New Delhi, India, fell from 24,000 to 1,500. What caused this dramatic turnaround? Ivermectin, which is anathema to Big Vax Inc. (i.e., U.S. health officials, Big Pharma and the mighty mainstream media). Ivermectin is being used extensively and successfully in other countries, including Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Bangladesh, Bahrain and Slovakia. Contrary to Big Vax, it has been proven safe and puts the skids on COVID-19 quickly, in some cases in just a few hours. Doctors who treat their patients with ivermectin call it the "wonder drug." Big Vax calls it verboten. Published June 2, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden’s Tulsa speech hateful, divisive
On Tuesday I watched and listened to President Biden's speech in Tulsa, Oklahoma ("Biden visits Tulsa to honor Black victims of 1921 massacre," Web, June 1). It began well enough with the president highlighting the slaughter of Blacks by White residents of the city in 1921. But with a growing sense of bitterness, I listened as the speech changed into the most hateful, divisive, anti-White speech I have ever heard from a president, including Barack Obama. At the end it sounded much like a racial call to arms. Published June 2, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Drug prices aren’t the problem
"Democrats' bill trades fewer cures for lower drug prices" (Page I, June 2) is unfortunately a lie. It is also not a Democrat-versus-Republican issue. Former President Trump was no great fan of the drug industry. Published June 2, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Anti-Asian crimes not by Trump voters
I found "Anti-Asian hate incidents rising despite former President Trump's absence, waning COVID-19 fears" (Web, May 28) interesting, as it notes that even with Trump banished from the mainstream-news media and message-streaming services, crimes against Asians continue -- under the Biden administration. The poitical left blames this violence on Mr. Trump's claims that COVID-19 came from a Chinese military lab in Wuhan, not a wet market. Published June 1, 2021
EDITORIAL: U.S. doesn’t have a ‘guns problem’
As crime rates continue to spike across the country, it's clear regardless of gender, race or ethnicity, everyone is feeling less safe. Gun sales, which saw a surge last year, continue to climb, with more female and Black buyers, data shows. Published June 1, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Freedom isn’t free
During the Korean War, I served more than three years in the armed forces to protect freedom for others as well as for all Americans, present and future. It is of great concern to me that so many American citizens, businesses and churches have readily given up many of their freedoms out of fear. They have succumbed to a few "globalists" who used a serious but overhyped virus to scare most Americans into submission. Published June 1, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Deliberate release would be act of war
If the investigation into the COVID-19 origins determines that the virus was leaked from a lab, and if it determined the leak was deliberate, the move should be considered an act of war and our military and the militaries of the other countries should treat it as such. There should be heavy sanctions against China and possible military action as well. Published June 1, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: ‘Blackballing’ really about money
"Tebow vs. Kaepernick: There's no 'white privilege' in NFL's disparate treatment" (Web, May 26) omits a key fact, namely money. The questions you failed to consider are as follows: Would Colin Kaepernick play if offered what Jacksonville will pay Tim Tebow if Tebow makes the team? And would an owner be willing to hire Kaepernick to play if he were willing to accept a Tebow-like salary? I think the answers are no and yes. Published May 31, 2021
EDITORIAL: The CDC’s emergency tenant protection should expire
As pandemic-weary Americans seek a return to normalcy, emergency measures instituted to help slow the virus' spread linger and obstruct the way. Published May 31, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Small-business surveys important
Gene Marks' op-ed, "Beware of all those small business 'surveys.' They're biased and partisan" (Web, May 27), wrongly classifies all small-business surveys as partisan and doesn't seem to recognize that the small-business community is not monolithic. Published May 31, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: ‘Two states’ is no solution
In a recent piece for the New York Times, Thomas L. Friedman clings to the well-worn and now essentially discarded concept of a two-state solution -- one with indefensible borders for Israel and permanent exposure to terrorist attacks from a new, neighboring Palestinian state. It is time insteas for a drastic solution; namely that the Palestinian (and if desired Israeli Arabs as well) should be transferred out of the League-of-Nations-mandated Jewish homeland. Published May 31, 2021
EDITORIAL: Iran nuclear deal, 2.0
President Biden appears intent on looping back in time and reliving the Age of Obama. Published May 30, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Protect the preborn
I was shocked when I read the headline to Michael McKenna's op-ed, "Culture wars are important to America and worth the political fight" (Web, May 26). I disagree that culture wars and fights are "essential" to our nation. In fact they are extremely harmful because they promote division among our citizens. Published May 30, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Hold strong in face of tyranny
This Memorial Day will be like none other in America's past. On a day when we honor the sacrifice of brave men and women who have given their lives for the freedom and liberty we hold so dear, this year the celebration takes place under the dark cloud of tyranny. Published May 30, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Seek political common ground
Americans should be able to differentiate between political extremism and political compromise. Political leaders (from both parties) are capable of enacting extreme legislation and executive dictate that could harm our country. Americans on both sides of the political spectrum are often guilty of not being humble enough to understand the reasoning of the other side's positions and viewpoints. People need to be cognizant that they are not infallible and are capable of making misjudgements; there needs to be room for finding common ground. Published May 30, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Not all trans people are “woke”
I'm trans and identify as a female. I don't see this as doublespeak or as being "woke" ("Today's religion of Wokeism ignores logic, science and reason," and "Parents must push back against progressives' doublethink," Web, May 23), Yes, I was born male and have a Y chromosome; there's no denying that my biological sex is male, and unlike some I would never refer to this fact as "assigned at birth." That just doesn't make sense. Gender is a social construct. It refers to behaviors and feelings, and is more of a science than religion, upon which the writers of these two op-eds expound.
