LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Welcome, Chief Davis
There is a new chief in town. How fortunate Fairfax County is to have Kevin Davis as its new police chief. Chief Davis is an excellent choice. He is highly experienced in the law-enforcement and public-safety arenas and is a well-educated, street-savvy, bright professional with keen insight into people and situations. Published May 13, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Try Hamas ‘leaders’ for war crimes
Enough is enough. Hamas, recognized in the West as a terrorist organization, must be eliminated. United Nations agencies and the press must stop being accessories to anti-Semitism. Published May 12, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: The real ‘big lies’
Rep. Liz Cheney nods her establishment head in unison with those who label Donald Trump's complaints about the election false and a "BIG LIE" ("Princess Cheney peddles another 'BIG LIE,'" Web, May 11). Published May 12, 2021
EDITORIAL: Woke left’s hijacking of language deserves ridicule
This past Sunday was Mother's Day, but some on the woke far left -- in the latest example of their reflexive, mindless pander to the transgender lobby — have taken to calling mothers by the gender-neutral term "birthing people." Published May 12, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Pelosi’s father was product of time, place
While I would never defend House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, I would defend her father as being typical for his time ("What to do about Nancy Pelosi's father?" Web, May 11). Published May 12, 2021
EDITORIAL: Biden administration props up New York, California and their Democratic governors
This month the Biden administration will start doling out $350 billion to state and local governments even though there's evidence the states don't need the funds. Published May 11, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Cultured meat research needs cash
I was thrilled to learn that an Israeli company, Future Meat Technologies, has slashed production costs for cultured meat and hopes to bring it to the United States in the next year and a half. For those who don't know, cultured meat is grown from cells, without slaughter. It's better for the environment, public health and animal welfare. Published May 11, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Cash the real ‘green’ motivator
Climate change is a hot issue because its purpose is to rev up the solar, wind and geothermal industries in order to put green in their coffers. In truth, if Earth heats up by 1 degree every 100 years, we can live with it. These energy titans are on the road to big business, like electric cars. Published May 11, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Rent nonpayment, not Jewish ‘takeover’
There are errors in the reporting of and confusion with regard to the source of violence in Jerusalem ("Israeli airstrikes hit Hamas commander's home, Gaza tunnels," Web, May 11). I saw one report note the reason for the violence in Jerusalem as Israel moving Arabs out of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood so Jews could take it over. Published May 11, 2021
EDITORIAL: Run-ins with police may have a chemical component
Beneath the badge and uniform, officers of the law are ordinary Americans who want to serve their communities. Published May 10, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Biden spending hurting businesses
The Biden administration, along with Congress, is on a spending craze which will continue annual deficits of over $1 trillion. The $1.9-trillion COVID-19 stimulus bill, enacted in March, and the previous COVID-19 stimulus bill, in 2020, were necessary to combat the adverse impact of the pandemic. The $2.2-trillion infrastructure program proposed by the administration, however, is another story. This proposed plan is highly bloated with non-infrastructure elements. It should be restricted to repairing roads, replacing bridges and expanding broadband; doing so could reduce the cost of the package to well below $1 trillion. Published May 10, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: January march peaceful by comparison
The violence and mayhem that occurred in Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis and other American cities in 2020 resulted in $2 billion of property damage and was accompanied by over 50 murders. That killing, looting and arson has been imaginatively described as a summer of love and a "mostly peaceful protest." Mayors and governors said they didn't want law- enforcement personnel 'interfering.' Published May 10, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Fair’s fair
If males taking testosterone are disqualified from participating in competitive events, why not measure testosterone levels in transgender "women" to disqualify them from competing? These "women" will undoubtedly be found to have male testosterone levels, which should disqualify them immediately. Published May 10, 2021
EDITORIAL: Pandemic panic is substituting socialism for self-reliance
"In America, we don't worship government, we worship God." It was a sure-fire applause line in Donald Trump's stump-speech repertoire. Published May 9, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Political left uses Black youth
Yet Jaslyn was also Black. She was a child with a whole life ahead of her to fulfill dreams and bring joy to her parents. By contrast, a Black felon with a rap sheet listing eight jail terms (with various charges of drugs, theft and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon) has been memorialized because he had supposedly been 'turning his life around' and his death was attributed to unlawful restraint by a cop. Published May 9, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Democrats a prime source of racism
I must disagree with President Biden and Vice President Harris (or is it actually vice-versa?). Published May 9, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Redo 2020 election
As the results of the Arizona election audit come in and with other states sure to follow, perhaps we should start thinking about an election do-over. It is obvious that the 2020 presidential election was rife with fraud, between "mail-in" ballots, illegal aliens voting, underage and dead voters, hacked voting machines, ballot harvesting and multi-state voting, it is obvious there is no such thing as vote security. Published May 9, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Ageism hurtful, unproductive
I want to make people aware of a social problem which seems to receive very little attention: ageism and age discrimination. I never understood why I've felt mistreated by a lot of people I have known in the world of politics in recent years, but I believe I may have found the answer. Published May 6, 2021
EDITORIAL: BLM may be doing more harm than good
Harmony among all shades of color is humanity's shared dream. Sadly, the crusade against racial injustice has become little more than a perpetual-emotion machine, fueling the flames of conflict it purports to fight. Published May 6, 2021
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Expanding the club of government
President Biden is saddling America's younger generations with many trillions of dollars in new debt while pandering to his strongest political donors, the teachers unions, leaving many public schools closed to in-person teaching. Published May 6, 2021
