History will show Biden’s cowardice
Lyin' Joe Biden responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's pleas for jet fighters and a no-fly zone for Ukraine to repel the Russian butchers by ignoring it and stating: "We'll do everything we can to push for and end this tragic, unnecessary war." Published March 16, 2022
Remove Russia from NATO now
I don't know who's worse: President Putin for invading the Ukraine, killing innocent women and children, or President Biden, who commits treason, colluding with Russia and trying to broker a deal for oil with our sworn enemy Iran. Published March 16, 2022
Continue aid, sanctions
Russian President Vladimir Putin is Hitler reincarnated. Hitler tried to create a German empire throughout Europe during World War II. Mr. Putin wants to recreate a Russian empire in Europe, starting with the invasion of Ukraine. Unfortunately, the democracies are currently showing a reluctance to fend him off that's similar to what the Allies showed against Hitler's initial invasions. Published March 16, 2022
More dictator moves won’t be tolerated
Reading Victor Davis Hanson's book "The Dying Citizen," I learned how former President Barack Obama illegally bypassed the Senate when pushing his Iran and climate-change deals. Treaties and declarations of war require Senate ratification, a fact too often ignored. Published March 15, 2022
End ethanol-in-gas requirement
In addition to the oil-price spike due to the war in Ukraine, there is now likely also to be a huge impact on the world's food supply of wheat, corn and other grains. The doubling of wheat prices and the freeze on exports from countries that are moderate players in the market are going to do real damage to poorer nations. However, we have the means to alleviate it: Suspend the U.S. ethanol-in-gas requirements. Published March 15, 2022
How far would Biden go?
Is anyone else getting tired of the lies with which the Biden administration bombards us daily? Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland admitted that there are biowarfare labs in Ukraine, but this was almost immediately discredited by the Biden administration as a "conspiracy theory" (even though it is widely known that Hunter Biden's firm, Rosemont Seneca, acknowledged building these labs in 2014). Published March 15, 2022
Are we sovereign or not?
Speaker Nancy Pelosi refuses to release videos and emails regarding Jan. 6, 2021 -- even though they were paid for by the taxpayers and are therefore taxpayer property. Mrs. Pelosi says she has "sovereign immunity" to not make public materials owned by the taxpayers for taxpayers to use in their defense in court. Published March 14, 2022
NATO should create no-fly zone
Ukraine has done a great job of defending itself with the small arms that have been given to it, but it needs other weapons. It needed other arms at the beginning of the war, too. Published March 14, 2022
Spending spree with no money
I wish I could say I was amazed at the pork-barrel pet projects in this latest $1.5 trillion giveaway by Congress, but I am not ("Senate approves $1.5 trillion spending bill with Ukraine aid, earmarks," Web, March 10). However, I am appalled. Published March 14, 2022
Call Putin’s bluff
President Biden is failing miserably as the leader of the free world. Instead of taking initiative, Mr. Biden is allowing our enemies to dictate our options. He and NATO are setting a dangerous precedent by allowing Russia to push Ukraine to the brink of humanitarian disaster. Published March 10, 2022
Biden is no leader
President Biden's complete lack of leadership can be observed in the Russia-Ukraine war. The incompetency of this president has put the entire nation in a perilous situation. During press conferences, his inability to focus and present clear answers has posed questions and become worrisome for Americans. Published March 10, 2022
Don’t let China take Taiwan
There is no implicit connection between Ukraine and Taiwan, but there is a very real connection between how Russia sees Ukraine and how China sees Taiwan ("Russian invasion raises new danger of Chinese attack on Taiwan," Web, March 9). Russia's actions in Ukraine are fueling speculation about whether Beijing might replicate Moscow's moves and seek to seize Taiwan by force. Published March 10, 2022
Mexico another Afghanistan?
What did we expect would happen when we allowed Democrats to encourage an industrialized criminal operation to evolve on both sides of our southern border ("Drug cartels surge amid Biden's border shifts and falling cooperation with Mexico," Web, Feb. 16)? Published March 9, 2022
Turn U.S. energy production back on
President Biden misled the American public this week when he compared domestic oil production in the first year of his presidency to the production during former President Donald Trump's first year. When Mr. Trump took over, it was after eight years of Obama-led domestic reduction in oil production. Published March 9, 2022
Bring Putin to his knees
Many people know of the story in the Book of Exodus about the confrontation between Moses and Pharaoh. At the beginning of the story, the Hebrew population becomes numerous and Pharaoh becomes uneasy about the possibility that the Israelites will join forces with some other group to throw him off. But along comes Moses to liberate his people. We can find a contemporary analogy in the current situation in Ukraine. Published March 9, 2022
So much for uniting everyone, Kamala
Growing up in Alabama in the 1960s, I was sickened by images of the Ku Klux Klan setting crosses on fire. The cross is the one symbol of the hope of God's love for all humankind, yet it was used by ignorant men to create a wedge between our people based on race. Published March 8, 2022
Drill, baby, drill
The U.S., with the world's best economy and military, has had presidents who used peace through strength to deter and preempt enemy attacks. Under President Biden and the Democrats, however, energy policies have weakened our economy. Our cities are not secure and our citizens are struggling to pay very high fuel, food and utility prices. Published March 8, 2022
Reopen U.S. energy resources now
The ruthless dictator Vladimir Putin has President Biden and the world by the throat. Yet Mr. Biden continues to finance Mr. Putin's invasion of Ukraine and perhaps beyond. Published March 7, 2022
Russia is more than Putin
As terrible as the invasion of Ukraine is, it's ridiculous to respond by renaming Russian drinks or pouring away Russian vodka ("Bars and restaurants renaming 'Moscow Mule,'" Web, March 4). Published March 7, 2022
Hoping Zeldin can change New York
Congratulations to Rep. Lee Zeldin, who captured 60 of the 62 New York county endorsements on the way to winning the Republican nomination for governor last week at the GOP convention. Published March 7, 2022
