No surprise media silent on spying
During the 2016 presidential election cycle, the Democratic Party felt so threatened by Donald Trump and his huge rally crowds that they believed they could commit a treasonous crime to gain an advantage -- while pushing a false narrative about Russian collusion (of which they were in fact guilty). Biden ‘solution’ to crack? Free pipes
"Senate Republicans move to cut off federal funds for crack pipes" (Web, Feb. 10) shows just how of out of touch this administration is when it comes to addressing crises. Just the notion of giving out crack pipes as part of a "smoking kit" gives new meaning to incompetence. Published February 15, 2022
‘Critical path’ indeed critical for projects
There is more to the recent Amtrak Office of Inspector General's report, which was critical on the lack of adequate planning for the $33 billion Gateway Tunnel project, than media reports have let on. Published February 14, 2022
Longer prison terms deter some crimes
Evidence shows longer prison sentences do deter some crimes ("Virginia legislation could release hundreds of murderers ," Web, Feb. 9). The New York City Criminal Justice Agency discovered last year that when juveniles were no longer prosecuted as adults -- which led to them doing less time behind bars -- their rates of re-offending increased. Biden has blood on his hands
You don't have to be a general in the military to know that Russia's reported 130,000 troops verses NATO's 40,000 forces would be like Custer's Last Stand at Little Big Horn. To put that into perspective, it's like an NFL team taking on a Pee Wee Football team. Published February 14, 2022
Say no to parasites
The donations cited in "MacKenzie Scott believes schools should raise your kids" (Web, Feb. 9) are to a 501(c)3 organization, exempt from federal income tax. Published February 14, 2022
Falling satellites should be avoidable
Having 40 satellites plummet toward Earth -- in a single day or over the course of 20 years -- should be an event absolutely unacceptable to Earthlings everywhere ("SpaceX satellites falling out of orbit after solar storm," Web, Feb. 9). Published February 14, 2022
‘Second look’ law serves only criminals
In "Virginia legislation could release hundreds of murderers" (Web, Feb. 9) Hans Bader writes that Virginia's proposed "second-look" "law allows judges to cut sentences for criminals or release them after they have served 10 or 15 years -- no matter how awful the crime they committed." Take back America
Over the past six months, in person, on the radio and on television I have heard numerous people say, "I can't believe this is happening in America." Published February 14, 2022
Left intent on destruction of ally Israel
The radical political left is intent on the destruction not only of our values, heritage and identity as a nation, but on the destruction of the wellspring of our Judeo-Christion heritage: our ally Israel. Published February 14, 2022
Time for Cheney to go
Rep. Liz Cheney has been censured by the Wyoming Republican Party and the Republican National Committee for her conduct in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Published February 14, 2022
Even Democrats are shocked
Joe Biden is nominally in charge, but ever since he farmed out his agenda to the Sanders/Warren/Squad wing of the party, normative liberals and all other Americans have had a bad case of indigestion ("Biden's feckless foreign policy provokes dangerous adventurism," Web, Feb. 10). Published February 13, 2022
Why keep reformed inmates in prison?
"Virginia legislation could release hundreds of murderers" (Web, Feb. 9) is a fearmongering critique of a bill that provides an opportunity for second chances for people serving long prison sentences. Published February 13, 2022
Why no warnings about the vaccine?
Has anyone else noticed that whenever a medication is advertised on TV there are more warnings pertaining to the taking of the medication than there are points made about its usefulness? I surmise they are on there to protect both the Food and Drug Administration and pharmaceutical firms from lawsuits. Published February 13, 2022
What happened to ‘openness’ of the left?
What happened to the age of Aquarius? The good old '60s with peace, love and openness to ideas? My heroes from those days are suddenly all for censoring. What is it they're afraid of people knowing? Published February 8, 2022
Unchecked allegiances could harm us
Remembering the political implications of the Berlin Olympics of 1936, "American Olympians playing for China are betraying USA" (Web, Feb. 4) parallels the problem created by uncontrolled immigration and loyalty defined by tribalism. Published February 8, 2022
Ukraine not a U.S. problem
Watching President Joe Biden with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz talking tough and silly posturing on the situation in Ukraine made me think of my dad ("Biden vows to spike German pipeline if Russia strikes Ukraine," Web, Feb. 7). Published February 8, 2022
Rogan the new Rush?
I began listening to "The Joe Rogan Experience" recently, mostly because of the massive attack on it by the political left. It's an entertaining show, but why all the anger over it? The answer was clear after listening to Rogan's podcast. Published February 7, 2022
GOP its own worst enemy
There is ample reason why the Republican Party has long been labeled the Stupid Party ("Greene promises to keep fighting 'civil war' in GOP," Page 1, Feb. 7). Some of them are apt to betray their own, indulging in back-stabbing siding with the Democrats in order to get ahead in their own careers (and sacrificing party and country in the process). The 16 members of the University of Pennsylvania's swim team are absolutely correct ("16 Penn teammates back policy likely to exclude Lia Thomas from swimming championships," Web, Feb. 4). Published February 7, 2022
