Why can’t there be global harmony?

I read with interest Thomas Walsh's recent and significant "From disaster to opportunity: A turning point for the United Nations?" (Web, April 8). Published April 13, 2022

Mainstream media silent on Finnish case

Finnish prosecutors have appealed a court ruling in favor of Paivi Rasanen, a physician and member of Finland's parliament, according to The Washington Times ("Prosecutors appeal 'hate speech' exoneration of politician who quoted Bible on homosexuality," Web, April 7). Published April 13, 2022

Save U.S. from American indifference

America's self-inflicted wound of betrayal stinks to high heaven. We disregard our country's cry for help as its president shoves the needle of death deeper into its arm. A people uneducated on how to preserve freedom for all have become lazy and indifferent to the acts this government has done to smear our nation's good name. Published April 13, 2022

Biden’s gun grab illegal

In Mutual Loan Co. v. Martell, the court ruled laws require "concrete conditions" that show their need to exist ("Biden's 'ghost gun' crackdown draws fire from GOP," Web, April 11). Without these, a law is unconstitutional. Published April 12, 2022

Deterrence only a tool of the mighty

Two recent commentary articles highlight the deterioration of America's deterrence capabilities ("Biden's change in nuclear power weakens deterrence," Web, March 31 and "The space weapons race is here," Web, April 11). The writers' aim: to convince the Biden administration that significant changes are needed if we are to retain security in this rapidly changing world. Published April 12, 2022

Gender, race chosen over qualification

The political left is celebrating the dubious ascendancy to the Supreme Court of a liar and a dyed-in-the-wool leftist. During her confirmation hearings, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson fashioned her responses (and non-responses) not in accordance with the law and common sense, but to appeal to leftists and her fringe-group supporters. Blame for mess lies with left, media

The blame for Russia's invasion of Ukraine, surging gas prices and skyrocketing inflation can all be placed squarely at the feet of our incompetent president, Joe Biden, and the mainstream (left-wing) news media that got him elected using lies. Published April 11, 2022

Putin’s divvying up Ukraine

The West has long lived comfortably in the assurance we will never again see the feudal practice of a king claiming new land as a legal right of conquest. In 1066, for example, when William the Conqueror crossed the channel and took England, he nullified all previous legal landholding and allocated every town and farm in all of England to his generals and favorites. Purge and fix the Democratic Party

The left's inability to speak the truth pulls the curtain away ("Definition of woman befuddles Democrats," Page 1, April 11). Any fool can plainly see now, as Li'l Abner used to say, that common sense has no place in their thinking. Nor has it for some time. Published April 11, 2022

Silly “slap” noise distracts

Thank goodness the Will Smith slap happened between people of the same race and gender. If two different races and genders had been involved, we would still be raging about it with all the hate we could muster. Published April 8, 2022

Not the best pick

So Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed to the Supreme Court (with the yes votes of three RINOs). Judicial experts have stated there are probably over 100 known judges and law professors more qualified than Judge Jackson to sit on the high court. Published April 8, 2022

Preborn are in great peril

It was shocking to read about the five late-term fetuses that were aborted, with several possibly killed after surviving their abortions, and turned over to Washington police this week by pro-life activists (In "GOP lawmakers ask Mayor Bowser for autopsies of fetuses obtained by pro-life activists," Web, April 6). Published April 8, 2022

Media buries real news

The U.S. Constitution is the law of the land. All congressional legislation must be in accordance with its articles, amendments and provisions. Published April 7, 2022

Radio host firing over tweet absurd

I was shocked to hear that radio host Amber Athey was fired from the talk radio station WMAL by the station's corporate owners for making a joke about Vice President Kamala Harris' outfit at the State of the Union. Published April 7, 2022

Left turn?

There seem to be an increasing number of op-eds in the Times that leave me wondering why the paper is shifting further and further left. A lot of the content seems to amplify the left's narrative. I can rarely make it through a day's paper without finding abundant examples. Published April 7, 2022

Pot calling the kettle Putin

So President Biden is calling for regime change and saying Russian President Vladimir Putin's children should not profit from their father's position. Published April 6, 2022

Biden, left must be held accountable

The many Joe Biden mental lapses during the campaign were minimized by Democrats and the liberal media. After one year, however, the significant failures due to decisions by Mr. Biden and/or his advisers have put the U.S. and our allies at risk and created significant financial hardship for Americans. U.S. timidity in Ukraine will reverberate

After Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, the U.S. administration timidly succumbed to his threats to widen the war if the U.S. and NATO became directly involved. We abandoned Ukraine to the Russian war-crime machine by not confronting Russia's aggression. Economic sanctions against Russia and the supply of defensive military equipment to Ukraine will not stop the wanton deaths and destruction. Ukraine needs combat aircraft, tanks and long-range offensive missile systems. Published April 6, 2022

Fixing broken public-health system

As a frontline force against infectious diseases, epidemics and chronic health crises, public health drives 80% of health outcomes. Before COVID-19, public health in the U.S. was underfunded, unprepared and fraught with inequities. After more than two years in a pandemic, we can clearly see the importance of promoting a robust and equitable public-health system. Published April 5, 2022

Unwillingness on ‘woman’ troublesome

During her Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson could not define "woman" because she "isn't a biologist." President Biden said he would keep his campaign promise to nominate the best qualified African American woman to the Supreme Court. Published April 5, 2022
