Put U.S. security first

The war in Ukraine is not yet a world war -- and hopefully it won't become one. However, in following the news from there and the Pentagon, I see the start of a discussion on logistics that portends dire days ahead if any real escalation takes place. Published May 5, 2022

Let’s see how ‘free’ the speech is

I hate to be a party pooper, but in between all the fanfare celebrating Elon Musk's impending purchase of Twitter, I have to sound a note of caution. Published May 4, 2022

Single-minded and dangerous

Modern Democrats have had one purpose: to win elections by any means and control everything. Under former President Barack Obama the IRS excluded conservative Republican groups from funding candidates. Under President Biden they will destroy the First Amendment with a disinformation watchdog that would control inconvenient facts. Published May 4, 2022

Abandonment of freedom is destroying us

So many have selflessly given their lives for the freedoms we hold dear, but we have tainted their legacy and for that there is no forgiveness. Published May 4, 2022

Corrupt and senile: Joe Biden, everybody

President Biden hid out in the basement of his multi-million dollar house for most of 2020 while running for president. He pretended he was running as a moderate Democrat and promised to unite and heal the country. And his surrogates in the liberal news media went right along with the fraud perpetrated on the American people. Published April 29, 2022

Now they’re worried about ‘censorship’?

The purchase of Twitter by Elon Musk has incited a conflagration of progressive minds ("MSNBC host fears suppression of political opinions, candidate bans after Elon Musk purchase," Web, April 26). Apparently they fear the new ownership will disturb the party line on content moderation. Published April 29, 2022

Peace only through strength

Congratulations to Clifford May for his outstanding Commentary piece, "Biden's National Security Strategy still unavailable" (Web, April 26). He neatly summarizes what several previous presidents have ignored, but none so clearly as the present one, namely, "If you want peace prepare for war." Published April 29, 2022

The drunken Democratic Party

Drunkenness could explain why the Democratic Party continues to offer such extreme social policies. After all, being drunk makes a person vulnerable, often self-destructive and prone to making bad choices. But how did the party that once purported to expand opportunity to all get diverted into social trends? What happened to its intellectual approach, making decisions based on facts and science? Fight back against Putin

In the 1984 movie "Red Dawn," America is infiltrated by the Russians and Cubans, dividing the country in half. Part of the enemy forces strike in the Northwest, where high school kids take them on. It was a fictitious scenario, but one that could very easily now happen here under the incompetent Biden administration. Published April 28, 2022

Letter to the editor: Biden’s diminished capacity hurts all

We must all admit that our president is in the early stages of dementia. His wife tells him not to stray and where to stand; he exits the Rose Garden in the wrong direction; his handlers tell him to not take questions or go off-script. The Easter Bunny herds him away from onlookers and conversation at the annual Easter Egg Roll. Published April 28, 2022

Open border problems coming to a head

Our open southern border has to be the biggest national security threat to date. It is hard to understand why, but President Biden is allowing it to happen. So much for his first priority being the protection of American citizens. Published April 27, 2022

Don’t let Cuba weaponize migration

The Washington Times editorial "Biden should not bow to Cuba's political blackmail" (Web, April 24) is spot on in its conclusion that "the United States must take charge and only negotiate on its own terms without bowing to political blackmail," but not while the military dictatorship engages in "its manipulative migration tactics -- and finally frees political prisoners." Published April 27, 2022

Diplomacy never stopped genocide

Newt Gingrich's "An American majority, not a Republican majority: Part two" (Web, April 25) is a waste of column space if Mr. Gingrich still intends to create "a dramatic shift in American political and government system" ("An American majority, not a Republican majority: Part one," Web, April 19). What are the U.S. goals in Ukraine?

The new strategy by the Pentagon to bleed Russia dry is dangerous. Policy should be set by the White House, but it looks very much like the generals are now doing what they want and the feeble old man in the Oval Office is rubber stamping everything. Published April 26, 2022

Failure of supply-side economic policy

Taking into account of all the cataclysmic challenges that FDR and Churchill faced separately and together makes today's challenges and missteps seem almost farcical. Published April 26, 2022

Musk can turn Twitter around

In these unnecessarily interesting times, it should come as no surprise that the NAACP is already trying dictate terms to Elon Musk as he turns a new page for the socialist foghorn that is Twitter. The organization asserts that free speech (that is, socialist speech) is wonderful, but hate speech (conservative speech) is wrong. Therefore, Mr. Musk must continue to remove hate speech from his new platform. Published April 26, 2022

Give education back to the states

Education is civilization itself ("Parents revolting against the perversion of their children draws fire," Web, April 23). It is the way that people achieve the skill of reasonable living, and it begins at birth. Published April 25, 2022

Biden must go

As prices for everything continue to spiral upward and the Democrats continue to make lame excuses for the Biden administration's bad decisions, I have a few questions for the "global socialists" in power. Published April 25, 2022

Left doesn’t care about border deaths

Recently a young member of the Texas National Guard, Bishop Evans, died trying to protect our border and those risking their lives coming up from the south ("Texas National Guard soldier missing in Rio Grande after migrant rescue attempt," Web, April 22). He went into the waters to try to save people who were drowning and died doing so. Published April 25, 2022

Reasonable warrantless seizure allowed

In his recent column, "Using Ukraine war to assault freedom" (Web, April 20), Judge Andrew Napolitano makes dubious use of the Constitution. Published April 22, 2022
