What economy is he talking about?

For retired seniors, the Biden cabal has so far caused an approximate pay cut of $5,800 per year. This includes gasoline, home electric and energy costs, grocery costs and other necessities and hidden costs and silent taxes. Published June 1, 2022

Treat causes, not symptoms

In 1955 when I was 14, my father gave me an actual weapon of war, a World War I-era, 1903A3 30-06 rifle. Each year thereafter I hunted and provided deer and antelope for food. When I was 15, I purchased a 9-shot, .22-revolver that I used to shoot tin cans with my older brother and his friends. Sometime within the next decade, I acquired another "weapon of war," a 1911, .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol. To date, I have never once considered shooting someone with any of these guns, and it was not because of some "commonsense" gun laws. Published June 1, 2022

Commonsense school safety measures

It was heartbreaking, to say the least, to see the massacre in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 children and two teachers were slaughtered for no good reason. What transpired after that was even more despicable: when Beto O'Rourke interrupted a news briefing to update the public and families of those who lost love ones and blame Republicans for the murders. Law enforcement failed in Uvalde

As we learn more about the Robb Elementary School shooting in Texas, things are starting to look even darker than we originally supposed ("Uvalde school shooting response defined by agonizing mistakes, bad breaks," Web, May 30). Published May 31, 2022

Younger Giuliani not governor material

New York has one last chance to step back from the abyss of pure insanity -- by winning the 2022 gubernatorial election. And what does the GOP do with this lone chance at redemption? It allows a circus side show like Andrew Giuliani (the poster boy for white, GOP privilege if there ever was one) to inject himself into the race, where he has no business being. Raise voting, gun-buying ages

In the wake of the Uvalde, Texas, shooting there is a very strong clamor to do "something" about gun control ("Lawmakers forge ahead in search of bipartisan path on gun control," Web, May 31). Republicans want to preserve gun rights and Democrats just want more government control. Published May 31, 2022

Troublesome delayed shooting response

As we learn more facts about the Robb Elementary School shooting, the picture gets more disturbing ("Texas shooter walked into school unimpeded, was in classroom over an hour before cops took him down," Web, May 23). I can't help but wonder if more children could have been saved if the police had not waited for more than an hour to enter the school. Published May 27, 2022

A clean election?

According to Joseph Curl in "Musk was right: Liberals are targeting him with 'dirty tricks,'" (Web, May 25) "Joe Biden raised more than $1 billion dollars from donors for his 2020 presidential campaign, the first candidate in history to do so." Well, President Biden is also the first presidential candidate not to bother to leave his basement to actively campaign. Some would wisely wonder where that kind of money came from and more importantly where it was spent. Published May 27, 2022

Mass shootings a cultural problem

I have a 1908 Sears catalog listing 35 pages of guns that could be bought by mail order. When I was growing up in the 1950s and '60s, anyone could go to a hardware store and buy a gun off the shelf. There were no waiting periods and no background checks. High schools had shooting clubs; students who drove to school kept their guns locked in the trunks of their cars. Children's TV programs carried ads for toy guns. Published May 27, 2022

Law already provides for armed help

Congress and state governments already have constitutional powers to "insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare" ("Police officers' delayed action stirs talk about armed citizens," Page 1, May 27). Published May 27, 2022

Criminal control, not more gun control

I appeal to the public and elected officials not to blame guns for the senseless shooting deaths in Texas last week, and to refrain from tying to prohibit guns them from law-abiding citizens. Instead, legislators should immediately remove the prohibition of guns from school zones. Why do shooters pick schools to attack for their lunatic killing sprees? Because there are signs everywhere stating that guns are prohibited on school property, and this makes campuses very soft targets. A shooter knows there will not be any armed resistance when he gets into the school. Published May 27, 2022

Left’s phony gun outrage deeply ironic

Is the radical, anti-American left only outraged by shooting deaths of children, and not the far more prolific, drug-related shooting deaths? Do Second Amendment abolitionists realize that no action taken to deny a constitutional right to law-abiding citizens will deter the deranged? More despicably, are Biden supporters comfortable ignoring their man's non-legislative order (ending southern-border wall construction) that cruelly enables more child-killing fentanyl to reach us? Biden can’t extricate U.S. from this mire

The Democrats and too many independent and conservative voters are responsible for the defeat of former President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. While the Democrats channeled all their rage into votes against Mr. Trump, enough independent and conservative voters turned on him as well because they were tired of his arrogant disposition. Well, good luck to this half of the population if they need emergency surgery and find out that the best surgeon is a conservative or has an irascible personality. Published May 26, 2022

Take back the raising of our kids

Whenever we as a nation witness a horrific crime committed by our youth, we must consider all societal influences in our conversations about solutions. There are steps every level of society can take to stop gun violence, and the Biden administration can do more than just point fingers. Published May 26, 2022

Get Clinton tentacles out of politics

Republicans are going to lose in 2022 and 2024 because GOP leadership cannot explain one lion-hearted truth to the American people: why the Clintons are in global and domestic control of President Biden's entire government. Published May 26, 2022

Formula shortage another needless crisis

The current baby formula crisis didn't have to happen ("Federal proble launched into baby formula crisis," Web, May 24). A whistleblower alerted administration officials last October. The Food and Drug Administration was even more aware of the situation when it shut down the Michigan plant in February. Published May 25, 2022

Does the law count in elections?

So David McCormick, still in a close race with Mehmet Oz for the Pennsylvania GOP Senate nomination, has filed a lawsuit to have all unsigned mail-in ballots be counted in the primary election -- without the legally required handwritten dates. Published May 25, 2022

Silencing science

In the immortal words of well-regarded Dutch virologist Geert Vanden Bossche, "With all due respect, Fauci does not have a clue" ("Fluking the COVID-19 tests," Web, May 23). This judgment was rendered by Mr. Bossche in a recent interview, which of course had to appear on alternative media. And, if you had not noticed, case rates are skyrocketing in Portugal, one of the most thoroughly vaccinated countries in the world. They must be at 99%. Death rates will soon follow. Reverse disastrous current trends

Congress must get the current administration out of office now, before the country is reduced to a large ashtray by a combination of President Biden's total confusion and Vice President Kamala Harris' complete incompetence. Put Sen. Joe Manchin in the top spot until the next election, with Sen. Kyrsten Sinema in the vice-president slot. Published May 24, 2022

Letter to the editor: Hold Hillary Clinton accountable

As more and more damning revelations come out in Michael Sussmann's criminal federal trial, I find myself asking two very relevant questions regarding this whole Russia-collusion hoax that put the country through needless years of political turmoil. Published May 24, 2022
