Those left behind in Afghanistan

Regardless of how you felt about the war in Vietnam or how you feel about the war in Afghanistan, one thing is certain: When we leave Afghanistan -- just as when we left Vietnam -- thousands upon thousands who supported us will be killed, or worse. Those who worked with our troops in both conflicts will pay or have paid dearly for helping us. Published August 16, 2021

Afghanistan will define Biden presidency

There is no way to know how important voters in the 2022 and 2024 elections will regard our botched pullout from Afghanistan, but it is all but certain that the event will be a permanent stain on the Biden administration. Published August 16, 2021

Biden’s performance alarming

I'm quite alarmed over the stunning incompetence of Joe Biden and many in his current administration. It's obvious that Biden is increasingly challenged by his deteriorating mental health. Several of his numerous and chaotic legislative policies pose real dangers to the American people and others. Published August 16, 2021

‘Wokeness’ in military does harm

The "woke" culture that is now becoming a priority for our military is an insult to those American men and women who served in the worst of times and their families who suffered as collateral damage ("Military academies stonewall demands for transparency of CRT curriculum," Web, Aug. 9). DeSantis right on masks

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis does not believe in child abuse ("DeSantis is standing up to Biden and his political weenies" Web, Aug. 9). DeSantis wants children in the classroom to breathe freely and see the faces of their classmates and teachers. He does not want to exacerbate anxieties, nor does he want to stunt language skills, which could be the result of masking children. Published August 15, 2021

China could exploit business allegiance

While authoritarian governances such as China's hold much sway over the corporations within their borders (and even without, to some degree), Western governances such as those of Canada and the U.S. are essentially steered by corporate interests, sometimes through economic intimidation ("Lawmakers say Chinese investment in U.S. farmland poses threat," Web, Aug. 3). Accordingly, major political decisions will normally foremost reflect what is in big business' best interests (but don't expect to hear this fact readily reported by the corporate, mainstream news media). The Biden administration's Afghanistan policy to remove all troops from that country is a fiasco. Published August 11, 2021

U.S. should honor Taiwan agreement

Today the most dangerous place on Earth is arguably the Taiwan Strait, where a war between the United States and China could erupt out of miscalculation. Published August 11, 2021

Halt military vaccine-mandate plan

From 1998 to 2004 hundreds of military personnel refused to take the anthrax vaccine, which had not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Published August 11, 2021

Information overload

Conservatives have had to face too many hot-button issues since President Biden was elected. The Democrats and the political left have stoked the fires of hatred by way of the most rabid and immoral power grab our nation has ever witnessed. At the same time, the conservative media has spread itself too thin by concentrating on each oppressive act. Published August 9, 2021

Defund Bush’s private security

Reading about Cori Bush attempting to justify spending campaign/taxpayer money for her own private security while demanding to "defund the police" is a reminder of how out of touch she and others members of Congress are ("Cori Bush defends her private security while pushing defunding of police: 'My job is to save lives,'" Web, Aug. 3).
