A politically correct military’s no good

Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller has shown intestinal fortitude in his decisions to speak out and then resign his commission as a Marine Corps officer ("Fired Marine officer doubles down on holding brass to account," Web, Aug. 30). Published September 6, 2021

Leaders must be honest

Leadership will always be on full display during moments of crisis. It's time to clean house of those leaders who do not exhibit truth as a core attribute of their character. Published September 6, 2021

Kudos to Virginia Supreme Court

"Virginia high court upholds reinstatement of Loudoun teacher who opposed transgender rules" (Web, Aug. 31) offers a sign of relief to all of us who work with youth, both in and outside our schools. Many such individuals have been threatened with termination or disciplinary action if they refused to comply with various new, politically correct social rules -- even if they have done so for religious reasons. Where’s the Biden impeachment?

Where are the impeachment papers and emergency congressional meetings on Capitol Hill? Where are the demands for mass resignations of military and Cabinet members responsible for the debacle in Afghanistan? Where are the Pelosi-Schiff-Schumer investigations? Where is the outrage for all these people supplying billions of dollars of American military equipment to cave-dwelling Islamist killers? Published September 5, 2021

If this is success, what’s failure?

On Aug. 15, after a reporter asked if a Taliban takeover was inevitable in Afghanistan and President Biden said no, the president already knew that the Taliban were winning ("Biden focused on 'perception' of Afghan forces in final call with Ghani: Report," Web, Sept. 1). Quid-pro Joe wanted Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani to paint a rosier picture and hide the Taliban's surging -- in return for military support for the Afghan army. Published September 5, 2021

Preborn should have same rights as born

Life is a continuum ("Supreme Court divides 5-4, leaves Texas six-week abortion ban in place," Web, Sept. 6). There is no magical point at which we are more alive, more human or more of an individual person. All of our physical traits -- the color of our skin, eyes and hair, our physique type, etc. -- are established at conception. With the exception of hair color, these stay with us from birth, to youth and through old age until natural death. The right to life of the preborn is as defensible as any born person and should be protected by law. Published September 5, 2021

Biden should be tried

I've heard people from both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party challenge President Biden's nonexistent leadership. They want him impeached or want him to just resign from his position for moves such as like killing the oil pipeline while allowing Russia to build theirs and leaving our southern border open to all kinds of threats. Harris would be worse than Biden

"The case to invoke the 25th Amendment against Biden" (Web, Sept. 1) is interesting, but it won't happen. A simple look at the politics will lay out why. First and most important is the Afghan debacle, which has caused Biden to drop the "Uncle Joe" act and reveal a cold-blooded operator. This is the true Biden, the Delaware grifter he's always been. Approve use of cheap, effective drugs

The COVID-19 pandemic would have been history months ago had global health authorities approved mass over-the-counter distribution of hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin for prophylactic use. Instead, they began a campaign of lies and misinformation about these drugs. Published September 2, 2021

FILE - In this Dec. 15, 2020, file photo, a droplet falls from a syringe after a health care worker was injected with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at a hospital in Providence, R.I. An untold number of Americans have managed to get COVID-19 booster shots even though the U.S. government hasn't approved them. They're doing so by taking advantage of the nation’s vaccine surplus and loose tracking of those who have been fully vaccinated. (AP Photo/David Goldman, File)

Why is no one talking about natural immunity?

The Biden administration is pursuing a universal vaccination strategy, even encouraging private businesses and public universities to mandate COVID-19 shots as a prerequisite to go to work or school. Published September 2, 2021

Nancy is the real problem

It looks like everyone is after Jihad Joe Biden. They want a resignation or impeachment. Both circumstances are more than appropriate for this reality- dyslexic imbecile; however, both simply treat a symptom rather than the problem. Published September 1, 2021

Get vaccinated

At the end of the day, when all is said and done, science, medical experts and I urge everyone to wear a mask and get vaccinated. Nevermind the naysayers, misinformation and outright lies about how to handle the COVID-19 and delta-variant pandemic. The lives you save will be your own and those of your family, friends and fellow human beings around the world. Published September 1, 2021

Who’s pulling puppet Biden’s strings?

Several recent Times headlines make my blood boil: "Chaotic exit latest Biden challenge" (Page 1, Sept. 1); "Biden blindsided by radical Islam and Americans pay with their lives" (Web, Aug. 31); "Joe 'Mr. Diplomacy' Biden sinks special relationship with United Kingdom" (Web, Aug. 31); "Biden plays politics with our national security" (Web, Aug. 31); and "With Biden's insulting behavior, the devil is in the details" (Web, Aug. 31). Do these columnists really believe Biden is in charge? Published September 1, 2021

President Joe Biden speaks about the end of the war in Afghanistan from the State Dining Room of the White House, Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, in Washington. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci)

Not good enough, Mr. President

In remarks delivered Tuesday from The White House, President Joe Biden defended the United States' chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan as being the right policy for the right time. Published September 1, 2021

Afghanistan the fault of Democratic Party

Everyone seems to be blaming Joe Biden for the current fiasco in Afghanistan. Yes, the buck stops with him, but he is very adept at blaming others. One group he is not pointing to is the Democratic Party. Yet since all his advisers are Democrats and the legislative branch is controlled by Democrats, this is a loss orchestrated by the Democratic Party. Published August 31, 2021

Biden failure is more than Afghanistan

What the world is witnessing is the fall of the greatest, most blessed country in history. One of America's greatest presidents warned of our demise. Abraham Lincoln said, "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." What an important message for America today. Set priorities to fix U.S.

When in the course of human events it becomes apparent that election of a particular president has been a monumental blunder, a decent respect for ourselves requires that we fix the problem. Published August 31, 2021

Supreme Court rebukes Biden twice

This might be reminiscent of an old Johnny Carson-Ed McMahon comedy routine--if it weren't so unfunny. Published August 31, 2021
