LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: You borrowed it, you repay it

Socialism benefits elite groups while the rank and file suffer at the hands of the elite, their enablers and supporters. The current campaign to lift the "burden" of student-loan debt and place it squarely on the backs of the American taxpayer is a perfect and horrid example. Published November 30, 2020

EDITORIAL: 2020, the dreariest year, heads toward a more cheerful conclusion

Not many years in living memory have been as bleak as 2020, but Americans are doing their level best to dispel the gloom during the season of giving. The coronavirus pandemic that dampened Thanksgiving celebrations from coast to coast only sharpened enthusiasm for the ensuing shopping spree of Black Friday. The unfolding holiday period demonstrates there is little market for misery during the most spirit-filled time of the year. Published November 30, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Term limits will help fix fraud

Fair elections mean we vote and our votes get counted — and only in rare instances are there questions about the integrity of the results. This most recent election proved that the whole process has been horribly contaminated, nationwide. And it is no accident. Published November 30, 2020

EDITORIAL: Don’t leave Facebook, Twitter to the left

Buckminster Fuller, the eccentric architect, inventor and author, once opined, "You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change things, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete." But Fuller, who died in 1983 at the age of 87, didn't live long enough to see the advent of social media. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: If only Trump were a ‘progressive’

It seems to me that in addition to the accomplishments for which President Trump has received credit (despite the screaming from the "progressives" and their lap dogs in the mainstream media), two huge achievements have been overlooked or buried. First, it appears that President Trump invented a new way to wage war without any American bloodshed: economic pressure that overwhelms an adversary (see Iran). Second, Mr. Trump's policies have saved our hospitals and their associates through economic aid. After all, have you heard of any hospital going bankrupt because it was required to treat COVID-19 cases to the exclusion of revenue-producing elective surgeries? Published November 29, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Only electors decide outcome

Thank you for being one of the precious few media outlets to respect the canons of journalism and not hop on the bandwagon of those who refer to Joe Biden as "president-elect." Published November 29, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Mr. Private Jet for climate champion

Joe Biden has nominated John Kerry as America's "climate envoy" ("Biden names climate statesman John Kerry as climate envoy," Web, Nov. 24). How can a man with six houses, 12 cars, two yachts and a private jet tell Americans and the world to take a bus to save energy? Published November 29, 2020

EDITORIAL: What Americans should be doing now for the future

With Thanksgiving now passed, Americans have entered into their yearly no-man's-land until the mid- to late-December holidays. Psychologically we are in a similar state of limbo, as we wait for both a new presidential administration (as of this writing not a done deal) and COVID-19 vaccines to flow into the American bloodstream. All this waiting, especially with the onerous lockdowns taking place in many parts of the country, is maddening. Published November 26, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Media tried to hide Trump’s popularity

Most Americans will come to realize that after they boldly elected African-American President Obama (twice), he did virtually nothing to improve race relations or the lives of most African-Americans. Rather, we will come to accept that President Trump did more for Black Americans — with a soaring (pre-COVID-19) economy, very low unemployment rates, an increase in real household income, an improvement in rates of homeownership and assistance to opportunity zones and historically Black colleges. This despite the media's unsubstantiated accusations of racism, constant criticism and refusal to report the president's accomplishments. Published November 26, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Obama’s sour grapes

Considering the historically large amount of support for President Trump by non-White voters, you have to be deaf, dumb and blind to give any credence to former President Obama's ignorant characterization of Trump supporters ("Obama: Trump an 'elixir' for Americans 'spooked' by a Black man in the White House," Web, Nov. 22). EDITORIAL: Joe Biden is just an Obama repeat

A refurbished product is seldom as desirable as a brand-new one. Joe Biden must be assuming Americans can't tell the difference. Even as President Trump battles uphill to overturn the results of the recent presidential election, faces familiar during the earlier Age of Obama are reappearing in President-elect-apparent Biden's pantheon of power. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Don’t replace Lee statue

When replacing the Robert E. Lee statue in the U.S. Capitol's National Statuary Hall Collection, suggestions such as Pocahontas, Maggie Walker and several other diverse dignitaries have been made. Published November 24, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Shutdowns hurt more than help

The lockdowns are not working. In fact, they are hurting the economy more than they are preventing the spread of the virus. The lockdowns only delay the spread of the virus; they don't actually prevent it. The same number of people will eventually get infected. We don't know that breakthrough vaccines are safe, and there is evidence that people can get infected even after antibodies are present. Published November 24, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: We know there was fraud

Is Joe Biden really president-elect? The answer is clearly no. No media outlet or presidential candidate can declare victory. It's up to states to certify the results. And the courts and state legislatures have a say in who becomes president. Published November 24, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Mothers’ last attempts not in vain

Never in the recorded history of humankind has there been anything that compares to the atrocities committed by the Nazis from 1940 through 1944. Germany operated 23 concentration camps with up to 1,000 satellite camps that saw more than 6 million Jews (including 1.5 million children) and thousands of Roma exterminated. Published November 23, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Democracy can’t afford voter fraud

There are many, including some of President Trump's supporters, who think investigating and litigating voting fraud is a waste of time and money because even if all fraudulent votes, voters and abettors were identified and prosecuted, the outcome wouldn't change. In other words, it is the result, not the preservation of election integrity, that is important to these people. Published November 23, 2020

EDITORIAL: U.S. voting must re-establish pre-pandemic integrity

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed another victim. In addition to the more than 256,000 dead Americans and nearly 1.4 million worldwide, the virus' murderous grip has left a dark stain on the vaunted U.S. election system. Regardless of the eventual outcome of the 2020 presidential contest, efforts should be unsparing to restore the process so that it drips with integrity. Published November 23, 2020

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Socialist ‘utopia’ will disappoint

China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, Venezuela and soon the United States of America — the common denominator is communism. Welcome to the success story of socialism, where one size fits all and you will be told what size you get. Published November 23, 2020

EDITORIAL: Voices opposing government COVID-19 restrictions must be heard

One thing the left does much better than the right — other than shut down city blocks for days at time — is agitate for their needs. They grab the megaphone, collar the media outlets and raise Cain. Consequently, they find the odds that their grievances are acted upon increased. It's a nice little cycle, or racket, which is why it has been in the liberal playbook forever.
