Harris named NL Player of the Week

Passing along this release from the Nationals about Willie Harris, who was named NL Player of the Week today after the torrid series he just finished against Atlanta. Here's the info:

Young headed to DL; Zimmerman coming back

The Nationals announced after the game that Dmitri Young will be placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 12, as he tries to get his blood sugar under control. Young, who was diagnosed with diabetes in Nov. 2006, missed the last two games with high blood sugar.

Aaron Boone update

Just wanted to pass along one item I couldn't fit in the notebook tomorrow: Aaron Boone will almost certainly be out longer than this weekend with a left calf strain.

Lineups from Atlanta

Here are the lineups for the first game of the Nationals-Braves series at Turner Field. One note: Dmitri Young was supposed to play first base and bat fourth, but was scratched because of high blood sugar.

Hood agrees to terms

The Nationals just announced they agreed to terms with second-round pick Destin Hood, a high school outfielder from Mobile, Ala. Hood will start at the Nationals' Gulf Coast League affiliate in Viera, Fla.

Postgame update

As if there haven't been enough developments today, hitting coach Lenny Harris elaborated on Wily Mo Pena's left shoulder injury after tonight's 6-4 loss to the Houston Astros.

Bernadina down, Langerhans up

Well, the Roger Bernadina experiment lasted less than two weeks. The Nationals optioned the rookie center fielder to Class AAA Columbus today and recalled Ryan Langerhans to take his roster spot.
