The U.S. Navy successfully tested its new Laser Weapon System (LaWS) in the Persian Gulf. The Navy spent roughly $40 million developing the directed energy weapon.

The Mk-47 "Mutant" — a fusion between the AR-15 and AK-47 rifles — was recently unveiled by a U.S. gun maker at the annual Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas. The "Mutant" weighs just over 7 pounds, has a 16.1-inch barrel, and a bolt carrier group derived from the .308-caliber AR-10. CMMG Inc. has already shipped 500 rifles to customers, with its base model selling for roughly $1,500.

Patrons in groups of at least two can rent firearms, and all customers and members are welcome to bring their own guns to use at Shooters World. The facility also contains a retail showroom that features specialty hunting rifles and shotguns, tactical weapons and self-defense firearms for purchase. Separating Shooters World from the rest of the pack is its indoor reactive steel range with a large assortment of steel targets to choose from.
