Dry Creek Valley wines of Sonoma County offer complex tastes for various meals

California's Sonoma County certainly doesn't lack for wineries, and oenophiles are finding even more to love in the microclimate of Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley, where vintners are producing more and more complex vinos to add to the delicacy that is the Golden State's grape-based golden harvest. There are as many wines in Dry Creek Valley as there are ways to enjoy them, but here are a few to keep an eye out for.

I freely admit, I didn't know much about Drambuie, so when I was entreated to test out some cocktails by D.C. brand ambassador Vance Henderson, I was intrigued to learn, well, anything about this beverage, whose name I only knew once via a "Simpsons" reference.

Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin comes from Ireland’s first craft distiller

Its name means "valley of two lakes" in Gaelic, and its label depicts St. Kevin, the sixth century monk who founded a monastery in the nearby glacial depression amid the Wicklow Mountains located south of Dublin. Glendalough is busy pouring its Wild Botanical Gin, a small-batch liquid that offers a truly botanical nose and a full taste that can be enjoyed neat, over rocks or even in a cocktail, as D.C. brand ambassador Brendan Crowley explained over drinks at Logan Tavern in Northwest.

Frozen cocktail maker Kelvin introduces new slush mix

Brooklyn, New York-based Kelvin Slush Co. has launched its newest flavor, Frose, or "frozen rose." Made from organic peach and strawberry juices, Frose is the sixth in a series of flavors from the company that also includes citrus, pina colada, margarita, ginger and tea.

Saturday is the International Day of Yoga, and the 3 Star Brewing Co. in Northwest Washington is offering a yoga session and local craft brews, courtesy of the Beer Yogis. Saturday is the International Day of Yoga, and the 3 Star Brewing Co. in Northwest Washington is offering a yoga session and local craft brews, courtesy of the Beer Yogis.

World Sea Turtle Day sees Naked Turtle Rum team up with conservation group

Friday is World Sea Turtle Day, which was founded as a way to raise awareness of and respect for the world's endangered sea turtles. While, yes, Bourbon County, Kentucky, is the birthplace of America's favorite whiskey, the "rules" dictate that bourbon can be made anywhere, so long as it is 51 percent corn and distilled in virgin charred oak barrels (typically of white oak). Not far from New York City, Hudson Whiskey -- named for the Dutch explorer who lent his name to the river separating Gotham from New Jersey -- has been getting in on the action, with both a Yankee take on traditional bourbon as well as a rye whiskey.
