Orr returning to Nats

Infielder Pete Orr, who was outrighted to Class AAA a couple weeks ago and elected to become a free agent, is going to sign a nonguaranteed deal with Washington and come to spring training with a chance to make the club.

Smoker has surgery

Left-hander Josh Smoker, a sandwich pick in the 2007 draft, had surgery to remove a bone spur from his left shoulder on Tuesday, the team announced. He is expected to be ready for spring training.
