Rep. Nick Rahall (WV-3) has represented his right-leaning district since 1977 and currently serves as Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Conservative groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Koch brothers-backed Americans for Prosperity have spent heavily in an effort to boost Rahall's Republican challenger, state Sen. Evan Jenkins.
