Secretary of State John F. Kerry made an unannounced visit to Iraq on Sunday to discuss the issue of Iranian flights over Iraqi airspace to Syria. The U.S. wants to ensure that President Bashar Assad’s regime in Syria is not receiving military aid. The Iranian flights to Syria occur “close to daily,” according to a senior U.S. official.
