Earl and Pam Robinson of Chatsworth, Ga., are among the first to get settled into the newly reopened Cades Cove campground in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Townsend, Tenn., on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, The couple have been camping in the Smokies for 23 years and had made reservations six months ago for this trip. "I could hug the governor's neck, " said Earl about the reopening of the park. The Tennessee state government and Sevier and Blount counties are paying over $300,000 for five days of operation costs for the park which has been closed due to the partial federal government shutdown.
