Boston Common (Boston, MA) - Boston Common is a central public park in downtown Boston, and is the oldest city park in the United States. The Common was used as a camp by the British before the American Revolutionary War, from which they left for the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The grassy area of the park is used for its largest events, in which famous individuals such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Pope John Paul II have made speeches. There is a public ice-skating rink, softball field, and multiple historic memorials throughout the park.
