HALEY JOEL OSMENT - the actor was charged with drunk driving and marijuana possession after he crashed his car while returning home from a concert in Los Angeles in 2006. The 18-year-old Osment, suffered minor injuries in the accident and was briefly hospitalized. Osment was released from custody after posting a $15,000 bond.

Israel dramatically escalated its aerial assault in Gaza Thursday hitting hundreds of Hamas targets. The Health Ministry in Gaza reported 22 people killed in a single day. Israel's missile defense system once again intercepted rockets fired by militants. (Associated Press)

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy said the agency is considering a ban on certain hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), used in many industrial and consumer products, as part of the Obama administration's climate change efforts. The Clean Air Act allows the agency to restrict certain pollutants if there are available alternatives, though no HFC alternatives have been suggested. (Associated Press)
