The American Livestock Breeds Conservancy (ALBC) is a nonprofit organization focused on preserving and promoting genetic diversity among rare breeds of livestock. It is the only such organization in the United States. Founded in 1977, the organization has since initiated programs that have saved multiple breeds from extinction and works closely with similar organizations in other countries. The ALBC maintains a conservation priority list that divides endangered breeds of horses, asses, sheep, goats, cattle, rabbits, pigs and poultry into five categories based on population numbers. Breeds that the ALBC has assisted in saving include the Carolina Marsh Tacky horse, Randall Cattle, Red Wattle Hog and American Rabbit. - Source: Wikipedia
