Diane Ladd, the three-time Academy Award nominee whose roles ranged from the brash waitress in "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" to the protective mother in "Wild at Heart," has died at 89.

Israel hands over remains of 45 Palestinians after Hamas returns bodies of 3 soldiers

Israel handed over the bodies of 45 Palestinians on Monday, the Red Cross said, a day after militants returned the remains of three hostages. Israeli officials identified the three as soldiers who were killed in the Hamas-led attack on Oct. 7, 2023 that triggered the war in Gaza.

Suspect in U.K. train stabbing spree charged with attempted murder

U.K. police on Monday charged a 32-year-old man with attempted murder over a mass stabbing attack on a train that wounded 11 people, and revealed that he may have stabbed two other people in the 24 hours before the attack.

NASA takes one step closer to launching quiet supersonic jets

A supersonic jet plane designed to make very little noise took flight for the first time last week, cruising over the southern California desert just after sunrise in what could be the first step toward much faster commercial travel, according to NASA.
