In recent weeks, there has been a defining ground shift regarding NATO’s role and upon whom America can depend.

President Trump’s Abraham Accords normalized economic and diplomatic relations between Israel and several powerful Arab nations. Iran, the acknowledged exporter of terrorism in the region and the world, stood alone in funding terrorism while continuing its quest to become a nuclear power.

That gained, the world would be held hostage to the whims of fanatical imams.

President Trump acted decisively and courageously with Israel to put an end to Iran’s pursuit of becoming a nuclear power. NATO allies were not asked to involve themselves actively in the ensuing military actions; they were asked only to allow the use of U.S. bases in their countries and the airspace of westernmost NATO countries. Astonishingly, our allies refused.

Conversely and unimaginable just a year earlier, Arab countries have supported and actively engaged in the fight.

France, Britain and Germany fear their Muslim populations more than they value doing what is best for the world. It seems that NATO has now joined the United Nations in becoming undependable, if not inconsequential, in international affairs.
