From the moment Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president in 2015, Democrats and their activists have tried to demonize, ridicule and slander him.

They have labeled him a threat to democracy and have relentlessly used Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” tactics to try to discredit and destroy him.

Two of Alinsky’s practices that they have religiously embraced: Never forget that the political end justifies the means and always accuse your political adversary of doing exactly what you’re doing.

A protege of Alinsky’s organization and training is former President Barack Obama. He and his party feel completely justified in doing anything to obstruct, derail and/or destroy Mr. Trump.

While in office, Mr. Obama illegally unleashed the intelligence community on Mr. Trump and his campaign, and President Joe Biden weaponized the Department of Justice in an attempt to keep Mr. Trump out of the Oval Office. Twice, however, they failed to circumvent the will of American people.

In a last-ditch effort to defeat their enemy, Mr. Obama, Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger and the Democrats concocted a scheme that, if successful, will flip the balance of power in the House of Representatives to limit Mr. Trump’s effectiveness his last two years in office.

They have used deceptive and misleading language in advertisements and on the ballots to make the recent special election in Virginia appear to be about fairness and correcting some mysterious wrongs. This is pure and simply political theatrics — and an unethical power grab. In their minds, the end will justify the means.

Unless the courts do the right thing and correct this egregious wrong, millions in Virginia will lose their desired representation. Republicans will likely lose control of the House, and the nation will suffer the loss of what could have been a highly effective final two years of the Trump administration.

There is no doubt about who is the greatest threat to our democracy, and it’s clearly not the republicans or President Trump.
