A prominent Iranian official said Thursday there are no major divisions within the country’s leadership, a swipe at President Trump’s claim that twin camps in Tehran cannot agree on how to end their war with the U.S.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that “in Iran, there are no radicals or moderates.”

“We are all ’Iranian’ and ’revolutionary,’ and with the iron unity of the nation and government, with complete obedience to the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, we will make the aggressor criminal regret his actions,” he wrote on social media.

The post seemed to be a direct response to Mr. Trump’s claim that Iran cannot get on the same page in peace talks.

“The infighting is between the ’Hardliners,’ who have been losing BADLY on the battlefield, and the ’Moderates,’ who are not very moderate at all (but gaining respect!), is CRAZY!” Mr. Trump wrote Thursday on Truth Social.

The U.S. and Iran are jockeying for economic supremacy in waters off Iran while Pakistani mediators try to set up a new round of peace talks to end the war.

Mr. Trump says Iran cannot be allowed to pursue a nuclear weapon, and he indefinitely extended a two-week ceasefire to give Iran time to prepare a peace proposal.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday that Mr. Trump is waiting for a “unified proposal” from Tehran and had not set a strict deadline for the Iranians.

Mr. Ghalibaf’s response tried to push back on the idea that Iran is splintered.

“One God, one leader, one nation, and one path; that path being the path to victory for Iran, dearer than life,” he wrote.
