A federal judge blasted the press on Tuesday for sacrificing accuracy at the hands of speed, saying journalists are delivering “predictably inaccurate” coverage of court action.
U.S. Circuit Judge Justin Walker issued his scolding as part of a ruling shutting down a lower judge’s criminal contempt proceedings against the Trump administration over its handling of a series of deportation flights last year.
Judge Walker, a Trump appointee to the circuit court in Washington, said the media flubbed its coverage of the case.
“Contrary to the predictably inaccurate commentary that plagues our better-first-than-accurate media era, the district court did not order the Government to turn the planes around, and today’s dissent does not argue otherwise,” Judge Walker wrote.
He did not name any specific outlets.
