Actress Ruby Rose accused pop star Katy Perry of sexually assaulting her at an Australian nightclub about 20 years ago, multiple news outlets report.

The “Orange Is the New Black” actress posted the accusation Sunday on Threads in a comment to a post by Complex Music that showed a video Ms. Perry shared from the Coachella music festival, where the pop singer joked about Justin Bieber’s headlining set.

Ms. Rose, 40, used the moment to go on record about an alleged incident that she said took place at the Spice Market Nightclub in Melbourne, Australia, when she was in her early 20s.

The Australian actress said she had stayed quiet about the incident because she didn’t know how else to handle it and because Ms. Perry helped her obtain a U.S. visa afterward.

“I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ’funny little drunk story.’ Later she agreed to help me get my U.S. visa, so I kept it a secret,” Ms. Rose posted Sunday on Threads.

Ms. Rose posted Monday: “Today I will be walking into a police station to see if any of my experiences can be investigated. I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try.”

Ms. Perry’s representatives said in a statement that Ms. Rose’s comments were “categorically false” and “dangerous, reckless lies” and that the actress has a pattern of making accusations on social media that have proven false.

Ms. Perry has not personally commented.
