After listening to the recent congressional hearing with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, I came to the conclusion that such questioning should only be done with all relevant parties present (“Nancy Mace to force vote on impeaching Secret Service Director Cheatle,” web, July 22). I formed this opinion after hearing Ms. Cheatle continually claim that she could not answer a question because the FBI was doing the investigation.

If the directors of the FBI, CIA and Homeland Security had all been present, there would have been no room for anyone to pass the buck, and we might have gotten some responses of substance instead of the constant refusal to answer due to an “ongoing investigation.” The latter is all we seem to get at these hearings.
