It’s not March yet, but Saturday’s college basketball slate was filled with Madness.Â
A record seven top 10 teams lost on Saturday, including each of the top six squads. Thankfully for college basketball fans, this chaos came before the NCAA Tournament, because the number of upsets would’ve surely busted everyone’s bracket.Â
According to ESPN Stats & Info, Saturday’s insanity broke the record for most top 10 upsets in one day in the history of the Associated Press poll. The previous record was six. Saturday was also the first time all top six teams lost.Â
9 AP Top-10 teams were in action Saturday.

The craziness began with No. 4 Purdue losing 68-65 to Michigan State.
Then No. 6 Kentucky (75-73 loss to No. 18 Arkansas) and No. 3 Auburn (67-62 loss to No. 17 Tennessee) fell. The underdogs continued to win in the night caps, with No. 2 Arizona (79-63 loss to Colorado), No. 5 Kansas (80-70 loss to No. 10 Baylor) and No. 9 Texas Tech (69-66 loss to TCU) all succumbing.
The string of upsets then ended with a late-night game when No. 23 St. Mary’s upset No. 1 Gonzaga, 67-57.Â
Oddly enough, all teams ranked between No. 10 and No. 25 won their games Saturday, meaning the AP top 10 will look completely different this upcoming week.
The only top 10 teams to win were No. 10 Baylor, which defeated No. 5 Kansas, and No. 7 Duke, which took care of business with a 97-72 win over Syracuse. No. 8 Villanova didn’t play.
