VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Three men will stand trial in the slaying of a southeastern Michigan woman who police say was bound with Christmas lights and shot in her home.
Timothy Moore, Shandon Groom and Shane Evans were ordered Thursday bound over to circuit court, according to the Wayne County prosecutor’s office.
Egypt Covington was a musician, singer and account manager for a beer distributor. Her body was found in June 2017 in the living room of her home in Van Buren Township, about 28 miles (45 kilometers) southwest of Detroit.
In 2017, Arbor Brewing created a beer, A Girl Named Egypt, to honor Covington.
The 34-year-old Moore and 28-year-old Groom are charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, home invasion, and using a firearm during a felony.
Evans is charged with felony murder and home invasion.
Moore and Groom are from Toledo, Ohio. Evans, 31, is from Sumpter Township, Michigan.
They are scheduled to be arraigned April 1 in Wayne County Circuit Court.
