BROOKFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Brookfield Zoo, which voluntarily closed its doors at the end of last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, is reopening.
The zoo located in the Chicago suburb of Brookfield, announced on its web site that it will reopen to the public on March 1.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the zoo, which closed on Dec. 31 - the second time it did so during the pandemic - said mitigation measures will be in place when it reopens. Visitors will be required to wear masks when social distancing isn’t possible. Also, the only indoor spaces that will be open are rest rooms. The carousel and the motor safari will remain closed.
The number of visitors will be limited, with capacity restricted to 25%, up to 9,000 visitors a day. Visitors will be assigned specific times when they can enter the zoo. Reservations to visit the zoo must be made online at czs.org/BrookfieldZoo. And tickets to the parking lot must also be purchased online.
One attraction that will be coming back when the doors open again is the ‘Dinosaurs Everywhere’ exhibit, that features animatronic dinosaurs around the zoo.
