PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The director of the Northern New England Rail Authority is receiving a lifetime achievement award for her commitment to passenger rail service.

Patricia Quinn was honored by the New England Railroad Club Executive Committee, which bestowed upon her the Vincent R. Terrill Lifetime Achievement Award. The club cited “outstanding work, dedication to the industry, and her leadership presence.”

Quinn has served since 2005 as executive director of the authority that oversees Amtrak’s Downeaster between Boston and Brunswick, Maine.



“Patricia is laser focused on improving the Amtrak Downeaster service and the national stature of this service reveals the success of her efforts,” said John Melrose, chairman of the rail authority board.

During her tenure, the service has continued to grow in ridership and service has expanded.
