BOSTON (AP) - A Boston teenager has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in jail after pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge for the 2018 death of a 15-year-old girl.

19-year-old Isaias Plaza must serve two years and the remainder of his sentence will be suspended for five years, according to a statement from the Middlesex district attorney’s office.

Plaza will have to undergo mental health and substance abuse evaluations when released, The Boston Globe reported.

On July 22, 2018, authorities responded to a report of a woman who was pushed to the ground and discovered Richelle Robinson unresponsive and bleeding.

Robinson was brought to Massachusetts General Hospital where she died the next day from blunt force trauma.

Witnesses told police that they saw a man, later identified as Plaza, leaving the scene on a bicycle.
