GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee couple has been arrested in connection with a camper fire that killed one child and injured another, authorities said.
Robert Inbody, 38, was charged Thursday with two counts of aggravated child neglect and Devin Cullum, 39, was charged with accessory after the fact to aggravated child neglect, according to a statement from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The bureau said it joined the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday to investigate the camper fire in Greeneville.
Firefighters responding to the blaze found a 3-year-old boy dead inside the camper and a 3-year-old girl outside with severe burns, officials said. The girl was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The investigation found that Inbody, who is the children’s father, left them unattended and then later left the scene in an attempt to avoid speaking with authorities, the bureau said. Officials said Cullum, who is the children’s mother, later withheld information from authorities regarding Inbody’s location.
Both were being held at the Greene County jail. It wasn’t immediately clear if either has an attorney.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire, officials said.
