GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A firefighter was cited for failure to maintain lane control after his fire tanker overturned as he headed to a house fire, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

State Trooper Michael Potter said the tanker ran off a road in Pitt County as it rounded a curve on Friday, WITN reported. Potter said the ground was soft and the water inside the tanker shifted, causing the tanker to overturn.

Firefighter Christopher Naylor, who wasn’t hurt in the crash, was cited by the patrol. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
