SALEM, N.H. (AP) - Most of the customers who lost natural gas service in Salem, New Hampshire, have it back again, police said.

About 325 customers were without service Monday after a gas leak was reported. Authorities said a line was damaged by a contractor.

The affected gas customers included the town’s schools, fire station headquarters, town hall and senior center.

“Fortunately, we had an officer on-scene working a detail when the leak happened, so we were able to respond swiftly and notify the utility company,” Salem Deputy Chief Joel Dolan said Tuesday.
