SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Two teenage brothers were killed Tuesday in a head-on crash in rural Santa Fe County as they drove to Moriarity for school activities, the county Sheriff’s Office said.

Mateo Sandoval was a passenger in a car driven by his 16-year-old brother Pedro Sandoval when it collided with a pickup on State 41 north of Moriarity, according to sheriff’s officials.

The brothers lived in the Stanley area.

The pickup’s 58-year-old driver was treated for injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

Sheriff’s officials said no charges have been filed in the fatal crash, which remains an open and ongoing investigation.
