PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A week after a big jump, gasoline prices in Rhode Island remained steady in AAA Northeast’s latest price survey released Monday.

The average price of self-serve, regular was unchanged at $2.57 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is a penny lower than the national average, but 17 cents higher than the average price in Rhode Island a year ago.

“A healthy and growing level of gasoline supply alongside decreasing demand are two factors helping to minimize gas price fluctuations,” AAA spokesman Lloyd Albert said.

AAA found a 38-cent range for regular, from a low of $2.41 per gallon to a high of $2.79.
