OCONEE, S.C. (AP) - A lawnmower flipped over near the edge of an embankment and pinned the South Carolina man who was riding it, killing him, an official said.
David Bearden, 81, was found trapped underneath the mower on Friday night in Oconee County, news outlets reported. He suffered “traumatic injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene, Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said.
The death was ruled an accident and an autopsy will not be performed, news outlets reported. The coroner said the accident likely happened between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., but Bearden wasn’t found pinned until almost 10 p.m. when a friend came to check on him.
