BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa attorney general’s office has cleared officers involved in the fatal shooting of a man in Burlington.

In a report released Monday, Assistant Attorney General Andrew Prosser concluded the shooting of 20-year-old Caleb Peterson on Sept. 11 was justified.

The shooting happened in the early morning hours after Burlington officers responded to a report of shots fired at a house. Officers pulled over a suspect’s truck, and Peterson got out, pointed a gun at officers and began running.

Three officers and Peterson fired shot during a chase. One bullet hit and killed Peterson.
