PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Portland Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a semi-truck on Interstate 5 at the Fremont Bridge.

Oregon Public Broadcasting reports the collision occurred at 6:48 p.m. Thursday and all lanes of I-5 south were closed for several hours.

The truck driver remained at the scene and police say was cooperating with investigators.

Police said Friday morning that the pedestrian was an adult male wearing all dark clothing.

They said he appeared to be trying to cross I-5 when he was hit.

The pedestrian’s name has not yet been released.

This is the 44th traffic fatality in Portland this year. More people have died in traffic fatalities in the city so far this year than in all of 2018.
