CLARK MILLS, N.Y. (AP) - Police in central New York say a 33-year-old man who was working on a four-story building was knocked off the roof and died.

Frankie T. Torchia, of Utica, had been hired to do construction work on the building in Clark Mills, just west of Utica. Authorities say he and another worker were setting a 30-foot piece of roofing metal when a gust of wind hit the steel and knocked Torchia off the roof.

Torchia was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say no safety equipment or harnesses were being used at the time of the accident.

The case is under investigation.
