STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut prosecutor says there were no signs police used force on a man who died after being taken into custody following a domestic violence incident.

Stamford/Norwalk State’s Attorney Richard Colangelo Jr. released a preliminary report Tuesday on Steven Barrier’s death. He also released recordings from police body cameras and a 911 call.

Barrier was detained by Stamford police on his 23rd birthday on Oct. 23, after a relative reported domestic violence.

Colangelo says officers did not use stun guns, other weapons or physical force on Barrier. He says Barrier became unconscious in a police car and later died at a hospital.

An autopsy showed no signs of injuries and the cause of death is pending blood tests.

Police have said Barrier’s death was due to a medical condition.
