FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Hundreds of people turned out for the third annual Women’s March in Fargo, despite a rally route that was cut short because of below-zero temperatures.
KFGO radio reports that Saturday’s event began at the Fargo Civic Center, where speakers included a former Minnesota state representative, North Dakota’s teacher of the year, a new member of the Moorhead school board, two middle school students and a retired federal employee who talked about the partial government shutdown.
It ended with a march that covered several blocks downtown.
Event organizer Lydia Tackett says the march is meant to raise awareness for all issues that relate to women, including those that disproportionately affect groups of women from the LGTBQ community, New Americans, and Native American women, among others.
