PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Portland’s Mercy Hospital has started its fundraising campaign for a planned move.

WGME-TV reports the hospital announced the $20 million campaign Wednesday evening during a donor dinner. The hospital plans to move all operations to its Fore River site and sell the current hospital on State Street in Portland.

Hospital president Charlie Therrien says the Fore River facility will reduce operating costs and help with efficiency. According to Therrien, Mercy has been operating in the black since October. The previous year, it had a $3.9 million operating loss.

The hospital already has facilities at Fore River including an urgent care center.
