SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Police investigating the homicide of a South Burlington woman say a man called 911 just before the victim was found and said he had shot his girlfriend.

The victim, 33-year-old Anako “Anette” Lumumba, was found dead in her home Thursday evening. Police have name named her boyfriend, 36-year-old Leroy Headley, as a suspect.

Police Chief Trevor Whipple told the Burlington Free Press that police are continuing an aggressive search for Headley using local and national law enforcement bulletins. He said the 911 call, details of which were first reported by the news site VTDigger , came from Headley’s phone.

Rick Goldsborough, an attorney who represents Headley in a separate case, said he has not spoken to him, but if does, he will urge him to turn himself in.
